QUOTE(tengster @ Apr 27 2012, 02:53 PM)
I am now on Pure Flow. I find it good for me but during down slope if pecut abit, I can feel abit not in control. My next pair will be Pure Cadence. Can you elaborate on Control part on your Cadence?

I think Pure Cadence also lighter than Newton.

Beside my Pure Flow, I am on my Trance10 which I bought it during mega sale....And it's quite a new shoe (from the date of production).....though it's one version behind Trance11....
*
I just got myself a pair of Pureflow after the ENR and just ran in them on wed as well as today. I'm liking the cushions and comfort~ icon_rolleyes.gif However, my calf muscle started to have a slight pulling feel or sore after 10-15 mins run in them and I'm wondering whether my muscles are not fully recovered from ENR yet or is it the shoes itself which I'll have to adapt to as well as strengthening my calf muscle. Any similar experience as mine? smile.gif

I think the calf pain is from ur ENR, I only felt the cushioning & bounciness of the pureflow when I started wearing them, compared to my old Nike trainers. But the cushioning only lasted until around 400km even though the outsole still has 50% more.
*
Gave me different feel compared to my adizero which has stiffer cushioning, liking it thus far but i think i'll need to have full recovery first before putting in more mileage into them. Been rushing my runs I guess, felt the pull and sore in my calf muscle during wed's run and told myself to have a week's break but went back into running again this evening and thus, the discomfort came back. doh.gif I wana blame that dog on wed who chased me though! mad.gif hehe...

For those who might be interested in fitness books, I've came across this book about stretching at MPH last night which I then bought it upon interest..glance through it just a minute ago and, as also stated by tenno, hold 30 secs or longer while 10 secs is just minimal.. nod.gif Basically the book briefly explains stretching for specific spots...

The one I've gotten is in mandarin and I think there's an english version called the anatomy of stretching by Brad Walker. biggrin.gif

Happy stretching and running thumbup.gif

I suggest buying the 2 pack SPI, one for HP and heavy stuffs, the other for ID and cash and keys, put the heavier pack at the back, no bounce.  rclxm9.gif

Tempting me to get one too~!! Just don't want it to bounceee.. brows.gif

I learned about stretching techniques back in 1993, when I read a book called Stretching by Bob Anderson. Bob's the stretching guru then & he still is now. That book explains stretching techniques & also detailed stretching sorted according to sport...
*
Thanks for sharing tenno, gona look up that book at the stores...while still nursing my calf muscles, did a full body stretch accordingly last night and felt "loose" throughout after that..it's been some time since doing so except focusing only on the leg before a run... biggrin.gif

Thanks for the link but then do you have it in english? hehe. the pictures up there cant be translated in Google translate.

Bro, the book in english version is this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Anatomy-Stretc...r/dp/1905367031
But I'm not sure whether MPH has it as I so happened to stumble across the mandarin version.

Else there's another 1 shared by tenno as follow. thumbup.gif

just a curious question, what kind of stretching that u guys normally do before a Full marathon or half marathon?.. just stretch suka-suka or does target certain muscle group (like the calf, hamstring, buttock)?.. hmm.gif hmm.gif

for myself, normally just to longgar the calf..so mostly just the 'touch the toe tip while standing' and the 'groin stretch'..
*
I do both pre and post-run stretching. Pre-run stretching i normally do from head to toe, focusing and holding more from waist down to feet especially hamstrings, glutes and calves. And not forgetting dynamic stretching as well as warm ups like light running. Post-run i then just focus on hamstrings, glutes and calves, no more head to toe. After that, makan kuat-kuat! thumbup.gif

QUOTE(don^don @ May 10 2012, 05:32 PM)
he should have, if you read his blog he travels around the world for marathon, i guess?
i think landing on heels actually would be better, but i'll need to get used to it. the problem why i can't do that is because my midfoot will always land first, and to prevent that i actually need to use my muscle to control my front feet to move up so that the heels can land 1st, which causes more energy on the muscle.

also by doing this, i'll need to concentrate more, which mess up my breathing. maybe need to get used to it abit. it's easier on the treadmill, but very hard at outside.
*

o well..,i not sure for tat..i juz like to run the way i feel comfortable..as long i had no injuries i dun see the reason i should change my style..
every1 has there own style..,we shouldn't denial any of it...tis is wat i believe la.. icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Ennn..I've read alot on heel striking causes more injury~kekeke... brows.gif

On the side note, there's divided opinions between landing styles but I personally think "do not fix what isn't broken", so if landing on your midfoot is what you're doing all the while without injuries or discomfort, you probably could stick and do with it. smile.gif As like seng said, I too think that everyone has their own style so what is suitable for them might not be suitable to you. Though no harm trying likewise but if it's still giving you problems/ messing with your comfortable rhythm then it's time to stick back to your usual. Shift your focus more to improving your endurance or speed work if you're comfortable with your landing and breathing. biggrin.gif

but oh well, i guess its their first time organising such event...the registration form even had spelling mistake in the earlier version.. shakehead.gif

Wa! so many amendments? I was not aware of that except the starting time change for 21km from 7am to 6am. I wonder if they'll at least block one side of the road since they're running it big this time. If no road block for safety purposes then really shakehead.gif

QUOTE(lung85 @ Jun 2 2012, 09:30 PM)
starting 1st 3km was less than 6min per km, after that it start slowing down, if i facing uphill, shd i lower my body to the front to help me push me ahead?
*
Based on my recent experience and what I read is that going uphill would be try to maintain your pose as on flat surface, not to lean too much to the front or back and, shorter stride with faster/ shorter arm swinging to help pull you up. Better not try to tackle the hill as hard (fast) as you can else pamcit later.

While going downhill would be pretty much the same too, slight forward lean but with shorter stride too. Better not sprint while overstriding downhill.

I'm still learning too on hills and gotta hear from sifu sekalian. smile.gif

Added on June 4, 2012, 11:45 ami guess that really boost the participation in the 10km category. smile.gif
