Hi folks,

I would like to start a whole new tank with a new aro from beginning.

I've plan to purchase:

- 4ft x 2ft x 2ft tank
- Filter
- Heater
- thermometer
- Oxygen pump

Hope all sifus able to answer my questions:

Do I need circulator for aeration?
Do I need a larger tank for long run? I think to get Golden Xback or super red

What is full bacterial/Ammonia cycle for a tank?

btwn, what is PLJ?

Sorry i'm a bit noob here.
*
If you are looking at long term here is your min requirement:-

- Xback tank 5x2x2 , Red tank 5x2.5x2.5
- Sump tank filter
- Quality sump tank water pump (Eheim or Fluval)
- ACDC air pump
- Invest in quality Bio Media (Eheim & K1)
- Tanning light

Let your new tank run it min 2 weeks with some Lampam fish. Add some beneficial bacterial for speedup the cycle process.

I think that about it.

PLJ = Protruding Lower Jaw
Usually is due to genetic or not enough feeding.

Hope above help. Good Luck!

Go for cabinet type. Steel stand are not durable or stable after sometime it will get rusty and require to change.

Sump Tank is ready made and is located below the main tank. You need a water pump in the sump tank to pump up the water back to the main tank.

Bio media is place in the Sump Tank for breeding beneficial bacterial.

Tanning light best to place inside the tank.

Tanning light inside? waterproof?

Yes. Water proof casing. You can buy Kinston brand T5 for XBACK or T8 for RED.

Bro Chrisoys, what food do you feed your aro? Is your aro pallet trained?
Can share about aro diet guide? If cant, its okay biggrin.gif
*
This new Red at the moment too young for pallet train. Currently feeding SW. Cannot over feed. 70% full is just nice. 1 to 2 times daily feeding. 1 week atleast 2 days no feeding.

The above feeding schedule is too avoid Aro drop eyes.

Once reach min 10 to 12 inch you can start pallet train. How? By starving method. At this stage Aro are strong enough for starving without worry him developing PLJ. My longest starving Aro is 5 weeks. All you need to do is daily throw some pallet into tank whether he want eat or don't want. Sooner or later he will eat.

I prefer give them Hikari brand compare to ARG1. One is made in Japan the other one made in Singapore. Maybe I kiasu...lol

Your aro got cross barbel...it might be due to poor water quality. Please look into this matter.

UV light is not required if your filter media is enough and mature to support all the waste produce by fishes.

Below is the sump tank I designed for my new coming tank. You can take it as a reference. Hope this help.

Hi All,

I have some questions about moving my three year old aro.

I'm staying in Subang at the moment, planning to move to Kepong soon. I'm just wondering how do I shift the arowana from one place to another. How do I keep him oxygenated during the journey.

Please advise. Much appreciated notworthy.gif
