The classic car online seasonal event is good and the prize car is nice. Hopefully PD will add more classic cars events.

it seems I'll have to restart my gt5 career...sigh. it is a lesson to always backup save files and game data after every session.

do you guys have any idea how can I get the JPGT GTR back?
*
don't GT5 patch 2.02 make a backup save now? or did both saves corrupt?

shouldn't you be able to just delete the corrupt save and restart the game from the backup?

I thought v2.02 backup is automatic? check in the save game data folder. there's 2 gamesaves there. new feature or something. it refreshes each time you log in.

parachutas, interested in 2nd hand? ; p

really? i thought the added feature was the ability to back up save game to a thumb drive. IIRC, he had to reformat his HDD.

yeah, not sure when backup to thumb drive was implemented since I never back up anyways. but was pleasantly suprised to see the automatic backup feature. very nifty, unless you somehow manage to screw up your whole hard disk.

what prize for classic car anyways? me is curious.

the whole ps3 system corrupted...just because it took farking 30+ mins for GT5 to response to any input after race and i force shutdown ps3. i think GT5 was trying to save, but it can't and stuck somewhere. the lesson is to never switch off ps3 during save...and to backup regularly.

the thing is...i never connect thumbdrive to ps3 for backup purpose. i only use thumbdrive for mp3 transfer and game pic transfer

and yup, v2.02 does make a backup...but in PS3 hdd. pretty useless if the owner didn't backup.

I encounter this few times already with GT5. Hang / No response for >2 minutes, and no HDD activity (the orange blinking light on fat-PS3).

What I do is, press the PS button, quit the game.
Then start the game again.

I've also straight press PS button, and scroll to shutdown without quitting the game.
No problem also.

Never force shutdown before by flipping the switch.

Also, I have USB sticks to backup once I've passed certain difficult levels/stages, and do it at least once a week.
Once every 1-2 months, I will do system backup into another USB HDD.

haha, just kidding actually. I do have a collector's edition and a R1 for sale, but I would suggest first time buyer to buy the XL edition to get your money's worth. or if you want, wait for the academy version for region 2 accounts. that's the best one so far in terms of value, and the sexy GT-R. mine is just for keepsake, and I redeemed the codes sadly. you can have the codes though through sharing if you want, all 11 of the initial special cars. just drop me a PM.

invince, sad to hear. but you shouldn't worry. trophies still stay, and I don't think GT5 is necessary to complete. I started a new account for the sake of it recently, and there's so much joy driving those slower cars again and going through the paces as opposed to LMP online races all the time. license tests are fun too, but you're going to suffer for iB-1 license this time if you don't have a wheel hahaha! credit is easy to come by with seasonals.

the only painful thing about starting a new account is the GT-R academy special car. still kind of sad I don't have it anymore.

Replaying it with a new account (2nd time) seems much easier.
Gold all license test took 1/2 or 1/3 the total time only.
But I still not yet gold both the slalom yawn.gif not my cup of coffee.

yeah, the slalom tests can be annoying. first one was relatively easy, the one with the FT concept is a serious pain. that thing understeers and is so twitchy, any slight movement sends you into a cone.

I notice, for those online challenge, as long as exit from racing, and it sync-ed online, no need go back GT5 menu (quit / shutdown), the rewards are given out the next time you enter into the same online menu again.

I also scare HDD/OS crashed, that's why practise constant backup regularly. Imagine the time spend on all those races and endurance. Also b-spec grinding. Left the last 24-hours Nurb to do only. Need to spread out to 3 days, perhaps this coming Raya holiday.

When PS3 freeze/hang, switching off from the console button should be your last resort.

Always try switching off from PS button first.
