somethings are just not meant for DIY tongue.gif

*peace* to all...

not to pour cold water, but its really too difficult to DIY chiller. DIY fan to cool the aquarium is ok, but to DIY a chiller is really too big project to justify its costs.

sometimes DIY is not just to cut cost, like me, i DIY alot (not just aquarium stuffs) because 1. it is fun, 2. because i like to DIY (i come from the generation where we watch MacGyver on TV n aspire to become like him when we grow up biggrin.gif) n 3. because i believe i can do it... biggrin.gif

+1 agree DIY cannot be determined by value. the experience and interest part is the best!

actually, slower growth of roots can also be attributed to other symptoms. its not necessarily a bad omen. as long as all nutrients are met, the growth should still happen, only at slower rate. slower rate can be more managable at times. my amazon swords also started to slow down even though i've added the 5 elements. so i believe its the macro nutrients that is important anyway smile.gif

i've 3 ottos in my 350mm tank. seems ok, not so crowded. and i fed them with normal fish pellet and also betta fish pellet. they manage to swim till the surface to get the food.
also i fed them with algae wafer but usually the yamato will take it first and hide
doh.gif
will try to squeeze in 3 SAE later this weekend. both SAE and otto price rm2 here in JB. but yamato a bit expensive, rm3 each
*
which shop? haven seen ottos for a while. my LFS here never stock it... cry.gif

so i only use pleco to go the algae cleaning... got 2 for my 4ft tank... not enough hiding place for them though...

Just hope the person that is doing will do a good job... Do you think a long length (105cm) but short height (28cm) sounds ridiculous? Now that I think of it, it's kinda low sad.gif
*
Its not wrong but not normal either. U have to consider the type of plants that go into ur tank. I prob could grow moss or hc with that height.. No echinodorus or high plants... Then u have to consider to buy appropriate filter as well.

Customized tank need customized accessories too.

i just giving example only. the size at least can still accommodate a 3ft light. the height really is too low i think...

i would think its better to follow standard spec height of 1.5ft or 38cm. you will have less issues with light penetration to the bottom of tank and most plants will grow well with this light distance. ie 1.5ft (height) x 1.5ft (width) x __ft (length)

my local pets shop qian hu is moving store. store owner said they are going to deplete the aquatic stocks at 10-50% depending on products. some are the filters / medication / sera (at 10-30% off) etc. the eheim normally already on sales (nation wide including kl also got this offer) also available i think 2213 or 2215 is rm400++.

anyone looking for some hardware can let me know wat u guys wanna check out. a lot of arcadia lights but still expensive... rm81++ for the 4ft lights...

i targetting the 2227 filter... but rm13xx cry.gif
