Is this some thing new?

I just charge rm50 on my Amex at petrol station. Got an SMS saying I charged rm200. Call up CS they say they always "deduct" 200 first then minus out the difference in a few days time
*
Nothing wrong. It's the usual practice for any credit card.

Applied at maybankcard center 1utama. Approved and collected within 60mins.

Keep it without cancelling it will be imposed for RM 50 GST. Make sure that it's being cancelled in their system.

Say I pay my Astro bill by phone tomorrow (Sat/Weekend), would I get the 5% rebate (if they post it on the same day)?
*
The rebate depends on the transaction date not posting date.

Posting date will determine the rebate goes to the current month or the following month especially when the last day of the month falls on the weekend; example was last Saturday date is 31st March.

Thanks... I'm a bit confused when it comes to the terms used. Here's what I understand.

Saturday (7th Apr)
- I pay Astro bill RM100 via phone using MBB2C.
- Not considered as transaction nor posting.

Monday (9th Apr)
- Astro "bills" to MBB
- Transaction date is today (9th Apr)
- 2.5% TP given to me, no rebate since it's a weekday.

Tuesday (10th Apr)
- MBB processed the payment and record down the payment and rebate
- This is the Posting date.

Am I right?
*
Since it's early of the month, your transaction made to Astro is not eligible for the cash rebate because as you did mention that the transaction in M2U is 9th April which is a weekday even though you did call in to make the payment on Saturday, 7th April.

If any of the transaction for this April month is eligible for cash rebate, you'll get the rebate early of next month May. Got what I meant? You won't get the cash rebate instantaneously.

The 5x TP is not a big concern as you'll be rewarded for RM 1 swipe in retail transactions regardless of what day your transaction falls on. Let's remove this TP from discussion as it may just confuse you.

Thanks for the explanation, I get what you now. I'll just try it out and update here.
As for the TP system, as you mentioned it's 5x TP per RM 1 swiped. I kept thinking of 2.5% as it's the equivalent amount. Thanks for the correction.
*
It's 2.5% rebate for 10000 TP redemption on RM 50 GST.

The Tesco Extra cashier tried twice but still cannot go through. At last, I switched to Citibank as the queue behind is long.

Weird.. my annual government service tax is automatically paid.. anyone got the same thing?

15-Apr-2012 15-Apr-2012 SERVICE TAX - PRINCIPAL  RM50.00
15-Apr-2012 15-Apr-2012 PAID SERVICE TAX    RM50.00

This is normal for AMEX since the GST is waived on AMEX but will be charged on Visa or Mastercard.

Nothing is weird at all!

For Visa/Mastercard, the EPP is easier to find. For AMEX, it's more challenging. That's why I wanted to confirm with JonnY if he wants EPP with Visa/Mastercard or with AMEX.

Well, my brother get a note with celcom package and swipe with visa platinum. Then call to MBB and ask convert to installment but they said they can't do that and don't provide that.

I remember few years ago ( > 5 yrs) my brother use card swipe to buy a digital camera but need to call and ask for 0%EPP.
As long as your payslip stated RM2.5k and epf statement same as epf deduction on your payslip then can apply liaw.  I tried few times to apply last year by MBB branch in my area and total fail.

Then last week I straight call MBB call center and they appoint 1 agent for my application. That agent very nice and help me with the application and I success within 2 days. Just received my card 3 days ago. My payslip is printed version and she said hard to apply unless using carbonize payslip. Then she ask me for epf statement and offer letter.

0% EPP depends on merchant and not the bank. It's a collaboration between the merchant and the bank.

On the way, if you want to convert a swipe to installment plan, MBB got it and it's called EPP+, there's some charges on involved. Details: http://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb_info/m2u/p...sonal/CRD-Cards

Others bank 0% EPP also depends on merchant?
*
Of course. The merchant must have the terminal the collaborated bank. For instance, if you want to buy an item using EPP with MBB CC, the merchant must have a supporting terminal from MBB in order to convert your swipe to EPP.

EPP happens during the point of sale and not after the swipe.
