RaspBMC, just download and install into SD....
Anyone used it as a NAS or LAMP server? What is your performance you are able to achieve from it? This post has been edited by eric_tan: Feb 17 2013, 02:59 PM |

QUOTE(skywardsword @ Feb 15 2013, 09:20 PM) btw if you guys are going to update from rc5 raspbmc to final raspbmc... I recently upgraded my Xbian to Alpha 4.0 and it is awesome! 1080p high bitrate videos that was very jerky last time is now smooth. I suspect no less with the final raspbmc. I actually tried it but ran into problems getting the wifi to connect, so went back to Xbian since I was more familiar with it. be warned. Subtitles dont work on a lot of my files. And it causes problems when i fast forward skip. Patch is coming up but I dont think its up yet. I did not figure out how to downgrade... so it is kind of problematic over the vacation and I ask my cousins over to watch hunterXhunter with no subs... if anyone is having problem getting their wifi working on Xbian: 1. edit /etc/network/interfaces 2. look for "wireless-power off" and change it to "wireless-power on" assuming you have the other network configurations done properlly this should get your wifi working on the Pi. |

QUOTE(skywardsword @ Feb 18 2013, 07:49 PM) what do you mean samba share is auto? are you talking about Xbian running samba client or samba server? If client I never had any problems. It always started automatically. if samba server I am not sure as I never set that up since I have a NAS I am streaming from. Does that answer your question? |

Well, when I installed raspbmc. The folders automatically get shared on my network. So I can view the folders from my win 7 pc without doing anything.
xbian... did not show up on my win 7 computer's network. |

Guys, I just got mine but I am not able to get it online.
I plugged in the Ethernet cable, but there is no indication of Raspbian being online. Tried accessing www.google.com using Midori but it doesn't work. I used the Internet cable and slot previously used for my current HyppTV setup (the Ethernet cable used to connect the wireless router to the HyppTV box). HyppTV works fine, even now. I tried changing cables and slots... doesn't work as well. Please help... if it cannot go online then I can't download any applications. |

@decypher
use slot 1-3 if you use ethernet. the newest raspbian image works with wifi. have you tried using the 1-3 white+orange wifi router slot with anything else? This post has been edited by C-Fu: Feb 24 2013, 10:48 PM |

I tried changing slots from the router to the modem. No connection.
Weird thing is that I logged into the modem and can see raspberrypi as one of the connected clients. Just no Internet connection. When I plug the cable into my laptop, the laptop shows limited or no connectivity. |
