Not sure if MKC do made custom caps of customer's choice of icons.
Vortex's probably still coming soon...

Does Keycool 87 comes in black colour enclosure? unsure.gif

Added on April 22, 2012, 9:13 pm

OK i answer myself tongue.gif yes it does
RM230 ish max shipped for red keys. Its pretty cheap. But the quality is questionable right unsure.gif
*
It cost around RM200, and around another RM20 for the shipping(2kg). You can probably get more things together with it at the same time to make full use of the 2kg(at least can include a set of keycaps).

Check my review of it in GH:
TLDR: A good keyboard, will be a even better board if it fixed the alignment problems(should had be fixed by now).
http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:25768

If you want to be safe, hold longer and add a little more for the coming backlit version. It isn't shown/reported with alignment problems, somemore reselling backlit keyboard in Malaysia is far easier than selling Mech KB, true story... sweat.gif

I don't have CM Storm, but I doubt the rigidity of it's case can be as good Keycool. Keycool's case rigidity is seriously high and unrivaled, LOL.

Yup I've read your review in GH smile.gif. Good review. Im not really a fan of backlit keyboards unfortunately sad.gif.
How long do you reckon it takes for the keyboard to arrive?
I played with the CM Storm red and i just cant stand the terrible black rubberized enclosure and red logos sad.gif.
Im seriously considering the Archiss AS-KB87LR / Leopold FC200 red now, but i heard that the Keycool are basically copies thus why im checking them out now tongue.gif. I know the Leopolds have the non standard space and sharp edge, but i guess its easily rectified with a replacement keycap from keycool.
The Filco reds would be way too expensive for my blood unfortunately.
More than a filco?
*
As you already spend so much time look and seek for keyboard, it won't hurt if wait for a little longer, right? sweat.gif

BTW, it normally will reach the agent's warehouse within 1-2days after order being placed (using 顺丰快递). And it will reach Malaysia in another 1-2days(if don't met with weekend or long holidays...). And after reached Malaysia, it should reach you in another 1-2days(unless the items being hold by custom at airport).

Just to further clarify, Leopold's FC200R is using different standard for spacebar than FC500R and FC700R. Leopold FC200R actually can use those universal spacebar made by KBC.

Keycool is actually FC700R's copy, but using different stabiliser.

Rigidity wise, MAYBE(I don't own FILCO, so can't conclude). Cause some ppl are reporting that their FILCO actually flexed/bent and not perfectly flat, and they had to twist it to fix it everytime. That should mean the rigidity of Filco's case may not be too high.

Hahha i've been to akihabara 4 times already in past 1.5 months just to hunt and play mechanical keyboards. I've desperate to purchase now but my indecisiveness is delaying it >.<.

Oh that means Leopold FC200R cannot use Keycool's blank keycaps (space bar)?
Means gotta purchase extra spacebar from KBT or from EK? sad.gif
*
Brah, you are consfused here.

FC200R using standard OEM/aftermart compatible spacebar standard, and that is an advantage there.
You can still get those KC's full blank key but using the default FC200R's spacebar, they both black in color, you won't notice any different.
Somemore with standard spacebar, you are easier to find other full set keycaps such as PBT and so on.

Weird because from what i read online, the FC200r's space bar is not compatible with the Filco's due to the position of the stabilizer stems is different.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

IINM, Leopold at bottom, standard at top.

But i heard that Keycool uses the same type as bottom unsure.gif due to they copy Leopold's design.
*
Yar, actually FC200R's spacebar is still different from FILCO's and Ducky's and other OEM. But most replacement spacebar made out there(mostly by KBC) are such standard in picture below, to be compatible with both.
user posted image

The one on Leopold 500/700 and Keycool are something even more different from the 2 above.

EXTRA:
BTW guys, is there an update for Leopold FC700R at their official site in Korea? It is now 3models each instead of 2 in last time? There also seem to have new sample pictures for it, so does that mean it is a step closer to the market?

Side sidenote, FILCO AI in TKL and Korea Layout anyone?

I thought firstly(till last month) only 2(may be my brain failed me...)? I mean 3 models for each model(color). I just remember the "mubak" and US ANSI layout, didn't notice the hangul layout?

Ohh now i understand.
Basically the FC200r is different than filco, but most keycaps maker have tailored the spacebar to be compatible with both?

Well i guess that put the FC200r slightly above the Keycool in terms of compatibility.

Can be said so.

TKL or Fullsize?
TKL:11,800yen
Fullsize: 12,800yen
http://www.diatec.co.jp/shop/srch.php

p/s: Wah, thats a serious expensive price, even higher than the previous Filco R? shocking.gif
Seems like other switches variant also cost the same, may be the SRP in Japan is really high... If so may be you can wait for local set. Our local Filco TKL should cost around RM380.

@above,
Nice review, that pretty much cover all(and of course even more details) I read from China forum.

http://www.waishehome.cn/thread-49122-1-1.html

Also, it is better if you explain more on the change in bottom case of the board(reduced height, new improved wire grooves and so on).

Wah, last time such bl mode being discussed at GH but most draws the conclusion that it is pretty much impossible to be done. Even individual backlit require some tricks.
congrats to Ducky for made it

p/s: at the same time, I afraid if the failure in LED will make the switches/keys malfunction, lolol....

Thanks kaiser!
So that means, nowadays, as long as it mentions KBC, it has dual compatibility for both filco type and leopod type  space bar?

I also find that almost all keycaps are called KBC in taobao, why is this? Isnt KBC a brand for Poker X keyboards?
Btw do you have any particular seller to recommend (for both Keycool keyboards and good quality ABS keycaps? PBT too expensive for me tongue.gif)

Thanks!
*
Yup, aftermart spacebar from KBC is universal for Leopold and Filco.

KBC is a keyboard community(now they are actually a brand/company) in China. And yup, they are among the major aftermart keycap manufacturer not only in China but also western countries(reseller import from KBC and sell it in eBay). In fact, the market for pbt keycaps are pretty much monopolized by them.

For keycool keyboard/accessories(keycaps and so on), you can try keycool.taobao.com(the official site for Keycool). Other also recommended seller are 80外设(free 顺风快递 for Keycool keyboard) and 菜青虫(aka 虫哥, a reputable seller).

For abs keycaps, the one by Keycool is quite good to type on actually, just don't plug and unplug it too often(the keycap will become worn and loose by doing so).

Planning to get a gaming one, but not interested in the RBW

try ask kai, the 1st poster in this page. He is running a test use mech kb program.

If you insist on a "gaming" board, then try CM Storm Trigger.

pretty much overpriced by a margin of almost 100%. But whether you like it or not, this is the way or should even say culture in Malaysia. Those random small PC accessories for sale in Malaysia normally cost 2-4times of the price in taobao. Normally, they buy a thing cost X rmb and sell it at RMX in Malaysia, profit at least 100%(b4 factor in any taxes or shipping fees)

AFAIK, he is getting his keyboard from Japan while keycaps from taobao China.

Yup, most keyboard accessories and those China brands kb are a lot cheaper in taobao China. Most of the time, even factor in the postages/shipping, there will still at least some profits.

but if you get it directly from China like Taobao, you need to pay delivery and shipment, unless you are purchase in bulk, that doesn't worth the effort and money also, and if you are doing business with the item you get, you need to make profit  sweat.gif

so selling 2x 4x I think is ok la, depend on how much the item is, like those O-rings, each pack is RMB5, but shipment to Malaysia is RM12......
if you are selling it 2x, RM5, really no profit unless you buy and sell 5 packs plus, finding 5 buyers, and sell it and make profit of RM0.50..........

really not like business, its more like charity  doh.gif
*
1kg of shipping can at least send 50packs of O-rings, lol...

those stuffs I mentioned are like USB wires, ps2 to USB adapter and so on. Which some shop sell it as much as over RM16(mid valley even worse, some junkies can cost RM30...) while the cost of it is only 4rmb(if buy in bulk may be even cheaper). Even import only 1unit by air freight all the way from China can be cheaper sometimes, facepalm over 90000. Those people who want to profit also most probably using sea freight.

You might not get what I actually wanna mean. My idea is that Malaysia's sellers profit too much already, rip off is a more suitable term. Next time you go those PC shop or handphone shop take a look at those accessories. You will realize that it is pretty much available at dirt cheap price in taobao.

Local choices are quite limited, only Razer BWE, Ducky XM Series and the coming Cherry g80-3800.
Not really sure how those XM alps switches feel to type on but feature wise it is probably the best(nkro, multimedia hotkeys, detachable cable and so on).

If you consider importing it from foreign country, the choices available will be quadrupled. If you interested we can help you list down models for in your budget.
