so further googling seems to lead me to cherry mx clear, and they are referred to as stiffer brown. just wondering anyone tried clear switches before?

Not much. Infact not much modern board have/use them. Somemore they(clear) are EOLed in certain region since last or last last years.

Why are the clears EOLed?

The guy's price is not confirmed.
He said it will be higher or lower depend on final pricing, for the alu and non-alu versions.

I did not find PCB mounted clears to be nice at all. Mod the springs though, and it felt great.
Plate mount Clears feels nice, but a little bit on the heavy side.

Anyone know where i can get a ducky wristrest? kinda not used to the height of my ducky shine. first mech kb ever and right now i keep accidently resting my thumb on the space key.

Worth or not is a pointless discussion. You cannot get a white FILCO locally, Barring that pink/white version and Taobao is the most convenient avenue to get it, unless you can get it from Amazon for cheaper.


Whether it's too white, Mac white, milk white, beige white, solid white, that's really personal preference

if you want to change to dye-subbed pbt key caps, YES you can, since ducky's key layout is standard
but I don't understand why you want to do so since it already include PBT key caps. unless you really want dye-subbed PBT, it's alright.

By the way, I don't think PBT key caps can be used for backlit since it is not translucent. What you get is just underglow. Probably nice

IIRC, Malaysia don't carry Ducky9008 with ABS version. Infact even the PBT version is also consider rare stuffs dy, because mostly flooded by Shine...

For ABS, I believe most of them are at least semi translucent.

So the basic different of 1008 and 9008 is there is 4 more function keys?
If I were to get the Tick PBT dye-sub, is it gonna be the same?
is 1008 any better? because the price are so close, the 9008 are PBT, 1008 are ABS, it only differ of RM40+-..... but a set of PBT caps cost around 100 right?
and IF i get that thick dye-sub keycaps, its only 104 keys......

no, 100X series has inferior build quality if compared with 900X series. They are considered as entry level of MX switches among ducky's product which uses mx switches. hence the cheaper price tag.

in fact the difference between 9000 and 9008 is the 4 extra function keys. But I don't see anyone selling 9000 locally.

you can find 9008S (dominated) and 1008 though.. 9008G2 a bit rare, since most of the shop take in 9008S because of the blingbling. (sad to say, that's the truth, extra bling means extra sales)

yea, actually.. was considering between 9008 s and g2 now.. i kinda like the red LED because it matches with my D3 peripherals.. but g2 has the PBT keycaps.. hmm.. PBT and ABS alot differences kah?
