QUOTE(boby27 @ May 29 2014, 04:59 PM) Hi all, What you want to look at is the curvature of the river and whether it is eroding the bank where you house is located. If it is at a bend, the erosion might be washing the soil and basically that is causing your house to "tilt", so the house on one side near the river will subside more. This is the worst case scenario.need some advice here, unfortunately we've bought a house which has a river situated behind of our house, so when we inspect the house, we found out there are cracks all along the side and back of the house, complained to developer d and they come and seal it off, but i'm still worried, later stay inside suddenly collapse so if i pile up/cover the whole sideway with concrete about 3-4 inches height will it be a solution to prevent further cracks? or is there any other recommendation/suggestion? appreciates for comments. thank you Usually, the rivers bank are enforced with concrete or pilings to prevent this from happening. Have a look at the river and note if the river bank has been shored up. If it is, then it is just probably uneven subsidence. Most new building will "sink" or subside a bit during the first few years, as the weight of the building compressed the soil underneath. |
