Other tips;

3. If you raise your floor like mine (i raise 1 feet above), please fill with sand (as we know sand not 'takung water'). If possible do not fill with tanah or sampah sarap, usually contractor want save money, cause sand is expensive. Usually 'tanah' will 'mendap' as time goes, then there is gap between floor. Before concrete, let your sand fully 'mendap' by rain water or pipe water. Then after the sand mendap, then re fill any gap, then you can concrete after your sand is stabil.

Another reason not to use tanah or sampah2...is to avoid any water takung below your concrete.

Hi Tom, you mentioned not to use "sampah sarap", I would assume that we cannot use the "sampah" from a hacked wall? I initially plan to use the "sampah" from a hacked wall as the base for the raise floor.

By the way, can you PM me the formula as well?

Thanks.

TQ nicky...biggrin.gif PMed already to you and craftknots.
Other tips;

someone ask me, the sample of BS steel, below is the sample my house steel, size 12, if you have chances to see size of CQ steel is smaller and 'lembik'..

for beam, better to make is a little bit bigger, mind is rather small.
[attachmentid=2769198]
another tips:

1. before concrete the floor, please put the construction plastic before concrete, many do not know the main reason to put the plastic. The main reason to put the plastic to avoid the water from concrete to dry to fast to soil and causing the concrete premature dry and can cause your floor concrete brittle or crack or. Many think that the main reason to put plastic is to avoid water vapor, this as secondary reason.

2. The best method to concrete floor is as my pic below, the BS BRC net steel (the jaring steel) is tie to the beam that exposed, these will make your floor concrete super strong..smile.gif..see my pic below. Please use BS BRC net size 7 or 8, especially for upper storey. If for single storey house BS BRC net steel size 6 pun ok lah.

PMed you and others that have requested for the formula.

If the sampah from hack wall, its ok. donot have sampah as paper bag cement and wood, these wood will attract termite..also if you fill it with 'sampah' or soil from others place, be caferefull as soil from others places can have termite inside..we never know, beside the side effect i mention before that means you bring termite to your area...cause contractor like to fill with soil as its cheap..

TQ bro.

the GI truss have two type , the C type shape (cost around RM32 per piece )and the V type (cost around RM12)shape....these prices one year ago...the hardware shall know..for the orange pipe..it UPVC Sirim approved type expensive cost about RM77 per pipe, the price one year ago. All these can be found at hardware shop selling material construction.

using rebar instead BRC net steel for your floor is the best....but it is costly and timing cause, need worker to tie the individual rebar...

today tips:

1. attach picture below is my DIY for the kitchen sink pipe outlet. This is the correct way to install the kitchen sink outlet pipe. Please use this type of elbow (using screw) so that when your outlet pipe is blockage with food wastage , you can easily unscrew the elbow and clear the blockage with wire or 'wire ring' that you can buy from hardware shop.

2. From the pic below also, to avoid your food wastage pipe from blockage, use my tips, use at least upvc pipe size 3" or 4" at the last end to man hole, this way your do not have food wastage blockage is future. My design , from the sink, i use upvc sirim approve (thick) size 11/2 ", then goes to upvc pipe size 2", and at last goes under ground upvc pipe size 3" to man hole. Please study the pic in detail.

[Tomjason already deleted the photo attached. Sorry ]...PM me if you want the photo

want more clarification, inform me.

3. For electrical, i would advise to have seperate DB for your house if you are doing reno, such as one DB at living room, one DB at kitchen or one DB at upstair. In this way you can easy manage and easy to troubleshoot in future.

4. If you are doing reno, i would advised you to install power socket and light inside your upper ceilling, And the ceilling power socket and light have switch control from down stair.

want more clarification, inform me.

for tile:

For tile 1x1, the upah is RM2 sq ft. If include cement etc then RM4 sq ft.
For tile 2x2, the upah only RM2.5 sq ft, mean per tile upah only RM10. If include cement etc around RM18-RM20 per tile.

just to share...actually most contractor use formula to calculate the estimation of you renovation..else..how can they can give quotation between 2,3 days...if somebody want to know the formula..do PM me..

TQ..
after the selection of the steel iron, observe also for the sand type they use...the best sand for renovation is from 'mine/lombong'..usually the mine sand is white in color....the.....second is from river..or we call pasir sungai....normally river sand in yellowish or redish in color.....for pasir sungai or river sand..make sure that the river sand is 'wash' type...else....there is mud inside the sand..causing your concrete not strong enough....

for brick selection....if you got budget..use red brick 'tanah merah'....this brick is good and strong..it also..make your house cooler..compared to sand brick....for sand brick..the price..last time is about 0.23 sen ...else..the red brick is about 0.37 sen..price already gone up...for the red brick..the fully bake brick is good...how to recognized this brick?...there is some black color or line on the brick....
