I'm using the 512kbps package.....why is it showing 1024kbps? does that mean I can unlock the speed? drool.gif

This is normal.

For 512 package, u either being capped at 512, 1024, 1536 or sometimes 2048 or maybe higher to ensure u get the possible maximum speed.

I have a strange problem. Just signed up for streamyx and activated my account. When first turn-on modem and pppoe login, margin shows

ds 31dB
us 26dB

But when I want to browse or doing ping, i get time out error and my margin status now shows

ds 31dB
us -24dB

my line attenuation are quite good at ds 8-11 and us 1-2.

Any idea? Have not call tm tech support yet but will be calling by tonight if not able to resolve.

it's quite terrible, usually ppl can get around 15-25 like that

My question is, how do we actually improve it ? is it related to our ethernet cable ?

Hello...

To the newbies guys, you really need to read the 1st post.
I keep seeing ppl asking is this is good or not, when if you just look at the 1st post, you will know some of u have EXCELLENT results!! SNR > 20 is good Attenuation < 40 is good.

You guys are actually lucky, I'm at the point where I have to question, will a 1 meter phone cable reduction will help much or not?

My SNR 12, Line Attenuation is 58.5

So far so good, it's still ok no DC, but will a 1 meter reduction of phone line cable matters much? Every bit helps I know, shorter it is, better... But just wonder if it's worth the effort or not.

Also, for u guys whose modem and desktop is far away from the phone wall socket. Use a longer network cable instead of a longer phone line. Stick ur modem next to the phone socket, run a Cat 5 to your pc.
Cat5 signal wont deteriorate..

Guys , i just upgraded my streamyx from 512 package to 1Mbps and i only managed to get ( average = 0.8 , Max = 0.92 ) Mbps from the speedtest.net
before i upgrade my streamyx , i only get 0.52 mbps max

i was wondering whether the data rate could be the root cause of it , if yes is there a way to get this increase

the data rate in my modem was 1024 before upgrade and after upgrade , no difference.
please check the screenie for the data rate that i'm talking about.
