My family and I like to eat out a lot but I know it's not the best idea to be ordering nasi lemak or pork rice often.
If I know I shouldn't be eating something oily/fried (hello, 98.964% of Malaysian cuisine) I opt for a bowl of Lui Cha, instead
I sometimes cheat and just have steamed versions of what I usually get, to be honest
>steamed chicken rice lol

What do you guys usually order? I'm curious as there seems to be little choice if you're trying to eat healthily in Kuching.

I'm usually go for tosai, and only eat with it's coconut condiment..the white2 one.

I assume tosai less oil..at least lesser than roti canai

Tandoori Chicken probably makes the most sense. But even this can be a challenge to find.

I'd stick with Capati for Carbs.

tosai is oily. dont u see the cook pour the oil before he lipat (fold?) the tosai ? In my opinion capati is healthier. naan is white flour, not that healthy

dat one I dunno...if you currently living somewhere nearby Kulim perhaps you can go to Dinas..at jalan kelang lama.

they will give you a plate of tosai with 4 type of gravy sauce..fish curry, dhal curry, hot coconut gravy sauce and mild coconut gravy sauce one.

demmit I'm drooling now... drool.gif

but after all it depends on ur taste lah, hw u like ur tosai being cooked, whether u wan quite soft or crispy icon_rolleyes.gif

normally thosai they put ghee to give the extra taste. But then if you dont want the oil, ask for Rava Thosai. it is a thin crispy one.
Or the other way you can see the oil is if you ask for Thosai with sugar or planta thosai.

well the white coconut thingy is called Chutney. the white one is plain and the orange ones are the spicy one. that has more kick to it.

Sometimes I order a chapati with a few side dishes of vegetables, plain water.

Moved this to the Food forum, seems more appropriate here than the Health forum.

If u're in Puchong, try Al Shafa at Tasik Prima commerial area. The tosei is crispy and garing and the coconut chutney (orange/redish one) is out of this world..the best I hv tried

Don't think we can order any healtier foods in makan lo. If the meal is considered the most healhtiest in mamak, it should be half-boiled egg >.<
