ECO mode only slows down the throttle response, not the engine output per RPM.

If you rev the engine to it's powerband you should get the same performance with ECO mode on and off. If you watch the video he has revved it to 5-6k RPM which is well within the powerband, that's why he complained there is no power....no "VTEC".

Honda says...
The ECON mode helps you improve your fuel economy by adjusting the performance of the engine, transmission, heating and cooling system/climate
control system, and cruise control.

If want power, off ECO mode. On ECO and complain no power... Civic still the best resale value car.
Now fuel price is high, is good to have ECO. Want power, can go for performance car...

are you driving a civic or have test drive on one unit? i guess it does affect, correct me if i'm wrong..

no offense bro... i don't think the eco mode is just slow down the throttle response...

as for me, the press on eco mode did make my civic hybrid become only a slightly powerful car than a myvi... without eco mode, i don't see a different when picking up compare to the 1.8...

The test done without Bias.
Paul Tan also involved in the test.
Do u think they tested performance by Eco Mode?
I don't think they are NOT aware of eco mode!
Performance test mean, the activated all the performance features in the machine!
Remember the Harvinder said:
Honda Civic is the 1st choice.....
The problem is, it doesnt feel like that (performance) anymore...
Engine (SOHC) is the weakers here....
& the handling is NOT that GOOD as well,
It Doesn't feel like Civic should feel like
Not exciting!
I drive Civic but Dont feel like Civic (Gen9 No Civic performance feel) Bcoz can't feel VTEC Power...
I am not geeting anything from the car...(when he press speed pedal)

Paul Tan
Civic featuristic dashboad.. by look at it, hard to lose but.....
Design look like came from the 90s,
Hard plastic, not enough sound profing,
The best thing is seats are comfort....

I read this in US report when they 1st launched there

The eco mode feature is on by default., even the video confirms the eco mode as being activated.

While I have to agree with the crappy hard plastics they use on the dashboard but then again, most Japanese cars are guilty of this anyway.

Let's put it this way - For 98% of the drivers in Malaysia, this is a good enough car that means a lot of the mainstream requirements. It's also designed to be more mainstream now to better compete against the Corolla Altis. Are there better cars out there now? Yes, no doubt. But this car will still sell based on its own merits and most importantly, it will still retain its place as the car with the best resale value.

For the other 2%, the modders and enthusiast group, it's a small group of people to give up on and for any company to lose the 98% mainstream, it would be disastrous.

Btw, how well is the KIA Cerato selling now? Judging by the number of cars I see on the road, don't be surprised if the Civic is outselling the Cerato by at least 3:1.

Saw a lot of FB on the road even a lot complaint about it. 1.8, 2.0, Hybrid all over the road compare FF, KC in the C segment market. Again, remain good for family car and very good resale value and reliable.
