sorry, i previously suggested a brand that turned out to be pretty bad.

a lot of established brands like Kenwood, Clarion, Pioneer and JVC offer HUs that is better quality, cheaper and with rearview cam compared to the OEM HU.

just got to make sure your car wires are not messed with, else risk of voiding warranty.

OK thanks for all the info bro. I decided to go for OEM HU because I am worry that the wiring stuffs cause void of warranty on other electronic components. More expensive than aftermarket options sad.gif but I would rather use cheaper tints and bodykits.

The new Civic is a better to live with as compares tot he old one. The seats are softer and comfortable for daily and long haul. Steering responce is easier to live with as compares to the old one where its steering responce is too sensitive and sharp which make one feel tired on a daily drive unless you are on track. Suspension softer also which is a good thing judging by our road condition.

QUOTE(daydreaming @ Feb 25 2013, 12:46 PM)
test drove Civic and Focus last weekend.

overall, i prefer Civic.

Focus - more power due to high horsepower, smoother transition, better cornering and more high-tech. but i don like the cream interior (dashboard is divided into dark n cream color)....and my test car was very very untidy with a lot of dirt mark. also my gf sat behind the passenger seat and she nearly puked. not comfortable at all according to her. the buttons are confusing too...the light button, is very very new to me.

Civic - so far so good. interior looks cheap, but since it's all black, it won't be that untidy. it looks slicker also. not as high-tech like focus though and fuel consumption definitely not as good as focus. but the car boot opening is bigger and rear seats are more comfortable.

but i do note one problem...when i test drove civic...the shift was not really smooth esp 1st to 2nd gear. anyone experienced that? the salesman said it's not usual for civic and maybe that car needs to be serviced :T
*
You made the right choice. 5 to 7 years later you will will know. smile.gif Reliability and after sales service very very important. The shift is better than the old Civic and its engine more refine too.

the looks of the new malaysian civic really an acquired taste i would say. not as ugly as what most ppl say, and once you accept that this isn't the familiar old civic, it looks quite good imho.

any news on or if M'sia is gonna get the current 2013 version? It looks a lot more refined and although I'm not too fond of chrome bits, it does look better than the pre facelifted one.

yeah had the same concern, its not just the cost of the HU but the risk of voiding the warranty is at stake.

i've found a guy that uses an aftermarket socket on the branded HUs hence any wiring done is purely on the HU, not touching the car wires hence no problem with warranty. gonna check him out next week once my car arrives.

btw, OEM modulo PP bodykits from Taiwan are around RM1.1-1.2k if you are keen ... i've seen a lot of SAs push their own suppliers and quote 2k+ .... so do shop around before you decide .. all the best!

For my understanding, PP is better than ABS. The other types of material, I'm not sure.

I'm told PP is the same material used for the original car bumper. Majority of articles I've read indicate a preference for PP. the only time I hear strong support for ABS is from ABS supplier. chicken rice seller will say chicken best, Duck rice seller will say duck is number 1.

After doing my own research, I am happy to stick with PP. But waiting for proper mugen kit to be released.

PP is the optimal material for bodykits, the fitments are usually 95% good. Avoid PU or Fibreglass lol, these will give you shittons of problems.

ABS isn't too bad as it is the second best material after PP, but it will be shattered if you had a bad accident because it doesn't have the softness/flexibility/toughness like the PP does. Say if you rammed something not too hard, on PP it may only be dented while still holding on to your car, whereby ABS will most likely crack and fibreglass completely shattered/destroyed.

If buy directly from Honda is abt 5k for the modulo bk. Buy from accessories shop much cheaper.
