Finally finish my car loan yesterday and is now totally mine. My 5 years 2.0 civic 8th gen had been serving me well without any problem.

test drove Civic and Focus last weekend.

overall, i prefer Civic.

Focus - more power due to high horsepower, smoother transition, better cornering and more high-tech. but i don like the cream interior (dashboard is divided into dark n cream color)....and my test car was very very untidy with a lot of dirt mark. also my gf sat behind the passenger seat and she nearly puked. not comfortable at all according to her. the buttons are confusing too...the light button, is very very new to me.

Civic - so far so good. interior looks cheap, but since it's all black, it won't be that untidy. it looks slicker also. not as high-tech like focus though and fuel consumption definitely not as good as focus. but the car boot opening is bigger and rear seats are more comfortable.

but i do note one problem...when i test drove civic...the shift was not really smooth esp 1st to 2nd gear. anyone experienced that? the salesman said it's not usual for civic and maybe that car needs to be serviced :T

i prefer the sportier look with the mugen wing and i know there is a reputable bk seller with a pretty mean looking kit for sale.
but the only issue i have is that i believe this mugen wing is probably an older model and more suited to the 8th gen civic. on the 9th gen it looks a little weird.

google 8th gen mugen bodykit and you will see that the wing looks perfect on the car. now compare it to the one on the 9th gen, if you look from the side, you will notice that the pointy tip of the wing looks like it is pointing slightly upwards and not in line with the rest of the body. i believe this is because the front of the 9th gen civic is lower than the back. so from back to front, the lines on the car is at a downward angle whereas the mugen win continues to point straight ahead. make sense?

so i'll probably take the advice that another reputable bk seller gave me and wait until there is a proper mugen kit for the 9th gen that is built just for it. rather than trying to put on an older mugen kit which does not look that perfect on the latest model.

yes i am an A type pedantic attention to detail person, so its bugging me to death that i'll have to wait a while longer for the proper kit to be released. i really hope we get the mugen kit that has a wing with the third break light, looks very nice in photos.

I was told that there is aftermarket navi system and rev cam for civic2.0s which is much cheaper than the official offer. Anyone here have the information?

sorry, i previously suggested a brand that turned out to be pretty bad.

a lot of established brands like Kenwood, Clarion, Pioneer and JVC offer HUs that is better quality, cheaper and with rearview cam compared to the OEM HU.

just got to make sure your car wires are not messed with, else risk of voiding warranty.

I find the brakes on the test drive car (a 2.0) waaay too sensitive
Maybe it's just me but I couldn't stop jerking while breaking - the only cars I drive regularly are the myvi and an estima. No problems on both.
Had no problems with the VW test drive unit either. I guess this one just ain't for me

Still the old civic looks better a lot. The new civic somehow look a bit smaller to me and as not sporty as the older one.
