Congrates on the 2.0s. I'm sure you will enjoy it. I enjoyed the test drive myself and is actually damn surprised how fast my wife booked the new Civic after dragging her feet on the forte for the whole month.

same to u mate on the second car for the family
i like the dedication in presenting the comparison table and of course we can do research as much as we want
but in the end of the day what the missus like thats all that matter

Bro, since ure aware that Malaysian car prices are expensive, all the more reason why VALUE FOR MONEY should be a major consideration. Having something that's value for money doesnt mean it must be cheaper than the rest. It can cost more but also be value for money. Its all about what you get for that price tag. A Vios costs about 80K but is it value for money? Surely not.
*
why dont we have the configurator like others got outside?
i mean got the basic price and people want what they want then add up la.
then add up sure got price increase
this system may cost more but in the end we pay what we want, and it also can give better definition 'value for money' according to personal specific

market size is a problem? i dont think so.

Is hybrid worth it?
*
i would say yes. but, just.

the premium over the basic spec 1.8L is nearly 5k. and with all the gadgetry i.e leather seats (outside install maybe 2k average), push start button keyless entry keyless start ( another 2k? if install outside ), etc, however the best bit the hybrid is CBU which means quality should be top notch.
a new powerful engine is another new stuff but i dont quite agree with the price tag actually.

people keep asking about test driving the hybrid, but so far i dont see any branch offering it

been reading through lots been said about resale value is not important. which absolutely not true. yes buy car has never been an investment and nobody saying it is an investment in the first place. so save the argument 'investment buy house blah blah blah'

except for maybe very rare ones. which surely not a single people here can afford.

resale value is actually a summarization of a brand strength. and confidence. some of the time yes demand plays a part but most of the time people just buy what they have confidence in. resale value is a good indicator whether one particular brand doing good over here or not. and mind u great resale value is not something u can have by doing business in 2-3-4-5 years. it is a product of perhaps 10-20 years of GREAT services.

we got to admit the japanese done good. except maybe for mazda but they are coming back. you may buy what ever u want but discarding resale value IS NOT WISE

-------

the car is already in honda sg petani. and they will sort out the documents, NCD, blah blah blah. if not next week then perhaps next week of the next week. i guess this will be it - buy without test driving.

zweimmk, the 2 litre u tested, was it fd or fb? U put it 2.0 S, i forgot fd or fb. Hehe.

If fd i think okay la.because the double cam sure bit quiet.but fb got single cam which is going to be a bit noisy.i hope they insulate the cabin well no excessive sound can go in.

Gone to possibly all SCs i familiar with in the northern region.apart from Formula Venture butterworth - they got one unit running, it is on trade plate, wonder why but crazy que - i cant find any test drive cars.

I hope everythings well. Hows the missus car? Arriving soon?

If it is a good car, you will be looking at a long term ownership. If you are already thinking about selling the car even before buying, it is like buying the car not because it is good but buying the car as a stop gap for something better. In this case it looks like buying the car not because you wanted it but because you want to minimize your losses.
*
selling the car doesnt necessarily an indication of it is not a good car. For example, upgrade. Family members adding up. Keeping with times. Downgrading. Etc etc. Actually it has never been any relation between selling a car (with good resale value) and that car is not good. If that car is no longer good, thats another story lah.
So when the time come for whatever reason of getting a new vehicle, of course resale value does matter (unless u are keeping the car)

If it is not a good car then dont buy it in the first place .

But it is a bad omen in my close circles to talk about selling something even before u buy it. That i agree on fully.

indeed an interesting strategy from Kia. which means i think from now on Kia will reduce model lifespan from normally 7 or 8 to maybe 5 or 6. say they launch this year end, so maybe take 2 or 3 years top to CKD malaysia. looking at forte launched back in 2010 so this means... forte life cycle is 5 or 6 years.

i hope they dont screw up the current forte as well as the other models. but shorter model life cycle means faster can becoming ... old? biggrin.gif

Meaning, if we buy now, this model will become slighly older by one year, and the RSV will also drop slightly.

bigger question is: are we getting the facelift as they confirmed in the US?

can u confirm this? or this is hot hot chicken shite?

we are looking at maybe thursday or friday

blessing in disguise also these little niggling delays, so that my loan date becomes later.

Relax, it happened to me as well before I got my Passat.

I suspect either JPJ system really down or the SA/runner dropped the ball. Anyway, it should not take more than 1 day to get your car registeration to link into the JPJ system. 2 is really the max.
*
i am itching! u know la the feeling, right. hehe.
nevermind, i told him in no uncertain way, do not go beyond this week

he took 2 days to clear the NCD thing. i thought it can be done just by click this-that, and thats it? no?

havent. but it is at the showroom. he gave me the frame number...? the thing they stick on the windscreen?
paid everything on sunday but till now havent got any clue when it is coming out
i told him in very specific way this cannot go beyond this week. and this week means working days saturday sunday are not included

i have been patient to see whats going on although we both know what it feels about waiting.
if he does exceed friday then i'll made hell out of him. rain the fire. vmad.gif mad.gif

Mine will reach showroom today according to the SA.
Tomorrow is Friday, so i dont think i can get mine by tomorrow nor Sat coz 1 day i not sure whther they in time to register with jpj and have all pdi checking done.
Indeed impatient..but wat to do
*
there were a lot of trucks on the road yesterday, they carried civics. no other models just civic
it seems they are pushing for delivery in the nearest time. but i saw them in penang mostly
dont forget to check car that allocated to u. just to please the heart hehe

if the SA is pretty quick maybe tomorrow can clear the documentation. just wait on monday or tuesday.

congratulation mannn!

QUOTE(zweimmk @ Jul 26 2012, 03:09 PM)
If the car is already in showroom, then tomorrow actually can get car if the car is linked into JPJ because the PDI only takes like an hour at the most (probably more like 15 mins can already). If the SA get the runner to submit whatever documents today and if system not down, sure can get car tomorrow.
*
the other thing included in my case is i am doing number plate retention.
which means the old car needs to undergo puspakom. i asked him to do everything as i dont really have the time and patience to go wait there. furthermore puspakom nowadays u need to book first the time and date to send your car there. i wouldnt dare to pay the rest of the downpayment if i wasnt sure the car is there.

last sunday i paid the rest of DP for the car
then monday he said take back NCD and tuesday confirmed everything about NCD solved
then both of us stopped contacting each other and to be honest i dont want to because i want to see how things go first. i strictly told him not to go beyond this week and i am giving him all the time and all the spaces he (might) need to do these stuffs.

so if he has to go beyond this week, maybe after some smiles and sure the keys are in my possession, i definitely WILL RAIN THE FIRE on him. maybe official complaint.

Who knows? Maybe the loan officer is incompetent, we'll never really know the real reason. One stupid loan also can drag nearly a week, ask this and ask that, submit this and submit that until now also cannot approve yet.

The loan that I took for my car is complete opposite - morning submit all required documents, evening approve already.

my NCD took 4 days to be upload or online or whatdaF.
i just bashed him on the phone just now.
no more dream this week. now next week.

this getting ridicolous. how on earth something online took a few days to settle?

and he mentioned about whatever jpj tax this that i dont bother to listen at all.
are those true?

i will rain him the fire next week. an official complaint letter. in japanese.
to report about japanese brand, u got to write in japanese so that the SA and the dealer owner know where the letter is heading to and how dead serious u are.

google translator?

he just texted me about kastam excise duty?
i was like ... whaddafcuk?
kastam excise duty? jesus christ whats going on

and as for NCD, he told me last sunday when i put all the DP he was going to handle it the very next day, and by tuesday when i texted him he said done about NCD. so it was about 2 days? 3 days maximum how do i know he bluffed me or not. and he was going to handle those number plate retention thing. then i decided not to contact him until just now when i bashed him kaw.

i asked him how many f days he needs and he told me next week latest tuesday. this time i took it like he said nothing considering the earlier promise about friday and i insisted do not go beyond this week. he should have comeback and update me on this. instead i need to contact him then only he told me these shite.

i am drafting the letter is english tonight and maybe convert to japanese later. will check again with my japan educated friends

kastam excise duty.. really? and if it does, 5 days and not cleared? sweet lord.
