hi everyone. my loan already approved for 2.0 forte. unfortunately, i was told that the latest with built-in touch screen was not available for white colour? Is it true? Or it just a cover up that they don't have stock for this? I've been asked to take titanium silver colour which I'm not preferred to...
*
how come hu also got depend on your car color? I thought the color should be matching the interior and as i know the interior colour doesnt change across all models unlike koup?

Yo Cyberkewl!

Never had this problem though. Though I have intermittent problem on reverse camera (every 20-30 times I go into R it'll happen once) the images won't appear on the screen. Can't even show it to the service center coz it happens so rarely....  sad.gif

Are you hitting 30k yet? I think you got your car earlier than me...
*

Hi, yes, there is a significant improvement. When I drop it in & went for a drive, I was smiling all the way! It really makes a difference at low revs & when you want power, just step on it. Costs about RM2xx, you can buy it online at lowyat Automotive Garage from speedworksonline, very reliable seller. This mod is really worth it, no regrets at all...... well regret I didnt get it earlier when I got my car (1.6 SX) :-)

For those folks facing pulling to left problem or other alignment problems, I recommend you visit this tyre shop:

Raydiance Wheels, 23 Jalan PJS8/12, Mentari Business Park, Bandar Sunway.

I was facing steering vibration problems when hitting speed of 100~110 km/h. Went to a few shops but they cannot rectify for me. So I looked up this forum & found some member recommending this shop so I tried. They have special discount for Kia Forte and their equipment is quite sophisticated so I am sure your problems can be solved!
*
how much do they charge to fix the left pull problem?

need advice on forte 1.6 sx? how's the fuel consumption? any dudes here know places selling kia with lots of goodies? tq
*
perhaps you should tell us your expectation on fuel consumption in L/100KM? Just don't expect it to be as good as vios or even honda city level..forte is a heavier car, C segment car and much of the FC depends on your right foot and driving conditions. One guy may get 6-7L/100KM but another may get (9-10L/100KM despite having similar conditions). But generally the FC I believe will not be that great unless you travel far along the highway often - on city drive just don't expect a good FC for this car.

I have said this to many people : if FC is truly a very big concern (may not be your number 1 concern, but nevertheless a big concern to you) - then just go and get a vios. Right now there's absolutely NO CAR that can give you better value than the Forte (in terms of non-national car - so not counting Preve here), so good FC just isn't something you would / could shout about here. Also there's also no car that can give you what the forte has in terms of features/gadgets/safety + good FC. If you can find one, do let me know tongue.gif

thanks for ur swifty response, im not concerning how good is the FC , just wanna know the numbers, driving a vios for 7 yrs palanning to get a forte. Still cant decide weather to get forte with new gps or the older radio.
*
depends on your driving conditions and right leg as i have said...if you drive on city often, expect between 9-11L/100KM (yes its that high). If you drive more on highways can go as low as 6-7L/100KM plus minus.

thinking of getting the forte koup, what you guys think? worth? was opting for 2,0 SX but wife like koup, more gaya, no children at the moment, probably we have children we get a K5
*
Should be fine but not sure if Koup got reverse camera tho..but i know 2.0 SX 6 speeder sure got, so maybe you should ask the salesperson to give u comparison of features between koup and 2.0 SX sedan. see if it fits what you're looking for. If yes then by all means just get it. Don't see why not.

Less than 30 mins. You can have a chat with the owner, David Wong, who is quite knowledgeable in tyres. Discount special for Forte due to Kia Forte Club initiative.

Excellent. Will probably drop by sometime soon to get this done. Thanks for the info!

If you drive it the same way before you put filter, mileage can increase but after you feel the power increase, then your right foot would want to press more so your mileage will decrease. Understand?  rclxub.gif

1. If you can afford it, get the 2.0. Sure no regrets.  biggrin.gif

2. If you can only afford 1.6 (like me), put in a K&N filter then you won't feel regret as you can feel better power & no more sluggish feeling. Even better if you can downgrade to 16" rims. This way you can save 10K compared to buying 2.0 including savings on road tax, insurance & interest over the years of ownership.

3. Don't get POLO sedan if you can afford Forte 2.0. Sure its a VW but small & performance same as Forte 1.6. If you want POLO, get the hatch with TSI engine then can really feel the power.

how much and where to buy the K&N filter? would putting it in void warranty?

Some question here.

Forte come with immobilized system, so does the installation of "locktech" help further to prevent car been stolen?
And can the car move without key inside?
*
Well it doesn't prevent 100% but it'll buy some time. If the thieves wants to steal your car - nothing can stop them actually. On the other question - the car won't drive without the keyfob or remote inside BUT if your engine is already started and you take away the keyfob while the engine is running, the car can still drive but you will hear an annoying beep (not sure how long that will go on) but its still driveable if the engine is already started and the remote is taken away. And this is for the SX model, for the EX model since it is using the traditional ignition key, it won't behave this way (it behaves just like every other car with ignition)

Have you actually tried driving the car without the key inside the car?
*
Nope but in theory it should work cos you can try to stop your car, get out of the car and you will hear the car beeping but engine is still running so in theory you should be able to drive the car without the key inside the car just as long as the engine is already running.

In theory it should be that way. Too bad though. Would have preferred if the car can sense the remote out of the car and if out of range, the engine should shut down. Better security feature dont you think?

Oh tested by SA eh? I see smile.gif Thought of trying myself haha.
*
well maybe they could do that but can be tricky to implement though, they would probably have to detect range BUT what if you parked your car in the driveway, then your key is in your pocket, you dont want the engine to shut down actually cos you're just taking some stuff from the car to put into your house...then if they implemented this - engine shutdown - user gets upset..haha..so cant have it all, dont be lazy, just shut it down if you need to shut the engine down!

Our forte already have so many features and the engine start stop is already very good compared to the Preve which needs you to slap in the key fob into the slot before you can press the engine start stop button (no proximity sensor)...

QUOTE(StarGhazzer @ May 10 2012, 12:01 AM)
When you are cruising in 4th gear at a low rpm, the engine doesn't generate enough torque to pull your car up the slope.

As you depress the gas pedal further, if the slope is not too steep the engine can actually rev at a higher rpm and yet still remain in 4th gear. However if it's a very steep ascent, or if you completely floor the gas the gear box will automatically downshift to third. It will take a second or two for the gearbox to 'sense' your need for acceleration before it downshifts though, a common trait for most non-performance automatic cars.

I'm assuming that you are flooring it when you down shift hence the engine revs spike straight to 4K; although it could be due to the smaller 1.6L. My 2.0L rarely needs to go beyond 3.5K for accelerating unless I manually shift it into 2nd gear and floor it madly, which I occasionally do.
*
this is correct, low rpm would not yield good pickup, even on a straight road, if u want to go faster, need to drop a gear to at least be in the right RPM before shifting (using the semi-auto mode) and you can get a decent pickup speed. Its like playing a drag race game..if u shift too early (i.e: low RPM), you will lose out tongue.gif
