MKV format no problem at all on default video player. You can use other 3rd party ( free ) eg Moboplayer, MVideoplayer too or paid players such as VPlayer, VitalPlayer. It plays 1080p videos very smoothly too
Browsing is good : i have about 150 apps on my phone. You can always close your open apps if you worried about it - not an issue at all. But I never like stock browser - I use BOAT browser as my favorite follow by XScope and Dolphin,. Infact I used my Note for browsing 80 % of the time

Excellent playback. I use Diceplayer and play 720p and 1080p mkv files on my Wifi network streamed from my local server. Very smooth.
I do light browsing. It's fine and smooth for me. I use Dolphin browser.
What do you mean it does not have gorilla glass?

http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/product...gorilla/samsungThank you guys for the clarification about the video playback. New info about gorilla glass though, I was reading on xda and they were arguing about whether note has gorilla or not. Thanks for the info, appreciate it much! Well I will just make more research then. Thanks!
