try this.

1) take out the battery, then put in back
2) vol up + home + start button to get into recovery mode
3) wipe data
4) then restart

this should solve ur problem.

But if have not back up ur datas before upgrade, then u will lost all ur data after doing the above steps. With ur situation, loosing data is the only way to get ur phone back alive.

hi guys, i've just inherited a galaxy S from my dad n i believe it's still on the stock 2.2

shld i just stick wit it till there's a stable version of ICS or flash to custom 2.3 first for now?
*
If stock 2.2 is ok for u, u may continue using it

Stable ICS, well, that will be a long long time... as there will not be an official ICS for SGS.

On CM7.1 with stock kernel
Glitch nor fugu didn't seem to work well. Random reboots.

Anyway with stock kernel OC/UV is enabled
SetCPU with 2 profiles
One with screen off another while charging
See how battery life is with this.

well in that case then could u recommend a good, well balanced custom gingerbread rom?

i used csl mi-300 previously n custom roms could really make the phone improve by 2 - 3 folds!

I suggest not updating via kies.
Rather download the ROM and update via ODIN, much faster.

Personally the stock roms have issues in terms of lag.

Once I went via CM7, it was a much more enjoyable experience.

It really depends on what you're downloading.
You can download stock 2.3 roms and flash via ODIN, those roms are typically 200+mb.

Flashing itself takes a few minutes at most.

CM7 is ~100mb if i remember correctly.

But CM7 is slightly different from flashing stock roms.

The key is to get a CWM recovery on, then flashing custom roms are much easier.

For browser, I can't comment, because the CM7 browser is good enough.

Same old question...

I just update to Stock XXJVU Value Pack.
Seems like it not as smooth as the previous version & sometimes it will FC.
I also feel that the battery is draining faster...

Any thing I missed in the process?

You need to fix permissions to fix the FC, u can do this with CWM.
As for battery drain, sometimes it happens with different roms.
