The screen having juddering lines is due to lack of power delivered to the screen. If the brightness is set above the minumum and this happens, send to service center.

If you're using a kernel like speedmod where the min setting is at 10% brightness instead of 20-30% on some other kernels, and u see this happening, try increasing the min brightness another 5%. If it stops there, it would be okay. But also send back to service center for checks.

Shutter lag = when u press the capture button, the time difference between the press and the actual taking

shutter speed = how long the shutter opens and closes for, this is actually adjustable in most 'manual' cameras. Or auto adjusted by the software in other 'automatic' cameras.

By manual, i mean user set, by auto, I mean software set. DSLRs have manual/auto modes. Phones usually only auto.

Yes, if you find that the image is blur because of handshake, on the flash.
Flash 'forces' the software to use a lower shutter speed.

Also, all the minor settings will change the shutter speed.

Like setting the scene mode etc, everything affects it.

lower shutter speed means faster, I guess thats why the confusion.

1/30s is lower than 1s in terms of numbers. haha..

Sorry but I'm talking from the standpoint of a photographer, apologies for that.
But I think it's good to know as well.

I generally refrain from using my phone for taking pictures if I can, except when for impromptu pictures of necessity, not for posterity.

Mainly because I don't have time to fiddle around with the presets in the phone to figure out what is the right exposure setting. Not to mention framing isn't really accurate with a phone. sad.gif

I'm very much a tripod and manual photographer. I think I've used the sgs2 camera for less than 30 shots.

And looking back, I realised that the pics I took were of frogs humping at my gate, spider sucking some fly and bat poo. :s

hmm~ still not that good ~~ it only increase the brightness initially ~~ but after capture still more or less the same~~ any other setting?

Change the scene to some other dim scene.
Then after that fine tune using exposure compensation.

How long is your 'overnight'
It's very vague if you don't attach an hour timeframe to it.

Because 8% over 12h is okay, as compared to 8% over 4h isn't that good.

As with 20% over 12h is considered alright compared to 20% over 4h.

And why don't you just leave your phones plugged in at night?

Well, the max charge state is ~97% so no overcharging.

But my experience is once its charged to 97% it just stops and the adapter power is used to power the phone and not to charge it.

So I don't see whats the problem with leaving it in.

Why don't you see if there's an app that will turn off your wifi/data at specific time frames to help you save? like Juice Def or something.

Yes, the adapter powers the phone once the battery is charged.

The technology inside the LiIon batts now are pretty good.
No overcharging unless the system fails then the battery bloats.

I thought when fully charged, the battery of the phone is currently discharging..
So in order to counter the discharging effect, the adapter powers it at the same rate that the battery is discharging...

But when the phone is unplugged, it jumps from 100% to 97% due to residual current left in the cable...
Wait a few minutes and then it comes back to 100%...

I think it is ultimately safe to left the phone plugged, no worries..

Well, the technology doesn't work that way.
But it is safe to leave it plugged in.

@pikachu on the i9000 its discharge by 3% then recharge.
So 94-97 or 97-100 depending on which ROM its on.
on i9100 i don't see this happening, anytime charged after unplugging it won't drop 3% after a few min like the i9100.

No, the i9000 will discharge until its empty. On i9100, the 100% consists of a wide range of voltage (hence you won't see the difference). I haven't checked the voltage yet when plugged in. Will probably do that later smile.gif

But that's not the experience I had with the i9000.

I leave it charging for 6-8 hours, but when i unplug it can last a day of normal usage.
I never experienced it fully discharging when plugged in.

No, I won't leave it naked.
Once I change phone, this phone will be passed on to someone else to enjoy it.

If that's the case, then your phone might have very little wakelocks, draining your battery very little. Like mine smile.gif

But this I think isn't true, because I typically leave wifi or 3G on.
And everything to sync every 2h.

So I'm not exactly sure.

It happened from stock roms to darky to cm7.

Aiya, the author is entitled to his opinion.
If he doesn't like SP or cases, then leave him be.

If he drops his phone and the screen cracks and the back cover pop out and battery disappears, its his problem.
