use kies, install it for the drivers only.
after that, remove kies from autostartup. And connect to PC and use it as an external drive. |

Well, if you're looking at timeline.
I got both the first batches of SGS and S2 SGS I got in June S2 I got in May But, there is a difference now, that during the SGS time, there was no 'competing product' from samsung. Only the NexusS came out slightly later in that period. Now, we have the GN and the SGN appearing just a few months ago. Samsung may not want to out a new device this soon, and a better refresh at the moment would be the Gtab range. |

I never buy AP stuff if I can.
And why do they call it AP? What's AP by the way? Shouldn't it just be called grey set? |

Mine is singapore set so I got it in may.
Warranty isn't an issue for me as I can just pop by service center. But AP doesn't make sense as its used for cars as 'approved permit'. No idea why it got translated to handphones. Should just call it grey import. :s Because the Ori/AP thing is just misleading. I mean I know the difference between Ori/AP, but I think its just misleading. They should say something like official samsung warranty or local samsung warranty vs shop warranty or grey import. Because tagging a phone 'ori' is like telling people there are counterfeit goods on the market that are sold as whatever phone they are. So why not call SP? hahaha.
Anyway, I always prefer to get non grey import stuff. Because you never know when the shop can just say "I service free, parts are payable" then by that time you just feel you got conned. Added on January 29, 2012, 11:35 amBtw, do you guys clean the kernel files before flashing kernels? I recently had problems with the SGS where it wouldn't boot and randomly shut down when I flashed the CM7 kernel with some other compatible kernel. Cleaning the kernel files solved it, and it works smoother now. Never bothered with SGS2 because I only flashed from stock -> CF -> speedmod and never did anything else to it. I am on 2.3.6 and typically no issues except at one or twice I had to reboot as the phone stopped responding. And this was over ~8 months of use. So I'd say that its probably some rogue program that I had on. This post has been edited by MYstombox: Jan 29 2012, 11:35 AM |

@SA6YEuro
Very likely u need to fix permissions as well to fix force closes Added on January 29, 2012, 12:17 pm QUOTE(Positron @ Jan 29 2012, 12:00 PM) I've already flashed the official firmware of Samsung, You need official region firmware + correct csc as well to initiate official firmware download via kies. But when I try to update firmware from KIES, it says that your device cannot be updated.. Anyone faces that problem, or else I think the only way is to update through ODIN right? Just download the stock rom from xda or somewhere else and flash via ODIN Added on January 29, 2012, 12:18 pm QUOTE(Calex @ Jan 29 2012, 11:54 AM) It's not really possible for sellers to specifically grab a AP set from a specific region for you unless they check the internals. Most would simply grab one of the good AP units, perhaps take a nicer box, and proclaim it as so. Thats why its better to buy warranty set locally. If you are near thailand, u can buy either SME or thai set if you are near singapore, u can buy SME or singapore set. Whichever is convenient for you to get it serviced. This post has been edited by MYstombox: Jan 29 2012, 12:18 PM |

I find the 1650mA battery is enough for my use.
I personally do not like 3D images, I find my eyes very tired and strained after watching 3D. I prefer 2D images, the 3D world around me is already causing me some headaches. hahahaha This post has been edited by MYstombox: Jan 29 2012, 08:32 PM |

They probably moved production of E4210 to the E4212 on the Gnote
and since the Gnex got the TI chip, they might as well order more for the 9100G. Win-win |

Yeah, too much heat will just degrade the AMOLED screens, later got patches of washed out colours which will just suck.

Even if no IPS, I hope will have PLS panel
I don't like the low brightness performance of AMOLED, the uneven power distribution to cells creating patches. burn outs etc is just too much a sacrifice. I rather have PLS and have higher chance of perfect panels. |

Ya, because I looked at the 8.9 and 10.1 screens, at low brightness it is very comfortable on the eyes for indoor viewing.
Also because of the low brightness, there is no patchy greys. Whereas on AMOLED greys will have streaking etc etc. Also, I need to wake up very early, and when my phone alarm rings, the screen is so damn bright it burns my retinas. hahaha |

Well, both the samsung used AMOLED and PLS are made by samsung and developed by samsung.
But it's sad that they won't have a PLS based one, and yes AMOLED would probably be used but we can still hope. lol |

Oh, lol.
But NFC usage locally is still pretty much 0 commercially. |
