Which modems are you guys using?
I'm on XXKI3, anyone know any good modems for maxis network?

My place by right I should get at least 14mb speed, but only get 7mb on my phone.

Reception wise is okay, wifi signal also okay. But not excellent for both.

It's quite easy to grasp once you get the hang of it.

I'm still looking for a good modem, I'm quite bored of flashing new ROMS.

Just using 2.3.6 official ROM, I did flash the kernel to speedmod though as I find that the minimum brightness on speedmod is lower than the stock.

I prefer it dimmer as its less harsh on the eyes.

I'll wait until there's a stable ICS build before i go ahead and flash again.
I need this phone as a daily user. haha..

Added on January 27, 2012, 9:39 amAlso, i moved away from launcherpro and went ahead to golauncher, mainly because of better updates. Not because of themes.

Nixdorf, check your battery usage.
See what apps causing it.

Also list down things like
ROM
Kernel
Modem
this may help us better identify the problem.

what "ahem" apps?

Even with wifi and 3G on all the time, it shouldn't drop 69% overnight.

@nixdorf

Your phone is the 9100G, not the original S2.

So I won't have much experience.

But the modem can be found
Setting -> about phone -> baseband version

ROM
Setting -> about phone -> Build number / android version

Kernel version, besides any numbers do you see anything else?

Is everything stock? If so, then need to seek help from other 9100G users.

Added on January 27, 2012, 10:15 amBtw, have you tried rebooting your phone?

Btw, he's using the 9100G, so not sure if all advise given in terms of kernels etc are relevant to his phone.

In dark room, I usually make the screen red.

Use in conjunction with speedmod kernel with the lower brightness setting its easy on the eyes. Especially when just wake up. haha

I am running 2.3.6 as well. No problems on my side.

Well, turn off the GPS receiver.

Did you download betterbatterystats from the xda forum?
Go download it and report back.

QUOTE(Terence573 @ Jan 27 2012, 01:26 PM)
guru of s2 here.

i'm trying to find a solution for my fren's s2

it freezes after lockscreen and its hot on the upper side of the phone.
(near the light sensor area i think)

b4 that got install the alpha ver of ICS 4.0.3 and downgrade again.

and from that time on the lockscreen freeze up problem occurs.

any solution for this?

How did he downgrade?
Complete ODIN flash? Or?

Did he flash bootloaders as well?
Make sure bootloaders are flashed.

No one click flash for everything.
Best is to use ODIN.

What did he downgrade to?
And what steps did he do?

You need to download ODIN
Download the ROM required, must include bootloader, modem, etc.Usually in a .tar file.

Put into ODIN.

I am not sure if repartition needs to be 'ticked'.

Seems odd.

When he reflashed using ODIN, did he tick repartition?
Because the way ICS is, there is no partitioning on the ROM anymore.

His search method not very efficient, need to wait indefinitely for replies, and replies quite 'unsatisfactory' as well. hahahahahahha.

I came from using launcherpro for very long, almost 2 years.
Go launcher didn't really offer much more, except that it is updated continuously.

But I do prefer having more than 7 home screens.
