If they hold your item, you'll have to prove the value is below RM500... invoice/payment slip and such (made-up/fake, in your case). They may say it is under-declared (which is true), you'll have to prove them otherwise. Good, convincing argument you may get your things through without tax. If you item is rather small, it should go through with relatively easy.

Mine's less than RM400, and it's stuck at PPL Butterworth. Consignment held by custom for inspection. High - value goods. Tsk. Dumbass customs. Is there a number I can call? Seems a bit retarded to pay for their mistakes, eh?

Note: It's CIF below RM500... including shipping not just the goods.... The should be Custom office at PosOffice Besar.

Yeah, everything including shipping. It's absurd sad.gif So I have to go all the way there, eh? Will they compensate for my petrol and time? biggrin.gif Oh wells. Anything in particular I should bring along besides the invoice? Thanks for the replies.

I always use SAL and so far no damages (except for minor dents). HobbySearch's packaging is quite good (I prefer AmiAmi's though)

How damaged is it? Till the box berlubang-lubang? Maybe you can bring your parcel to the PosLaju center and see if can claim insurance..

major dents, item affected. I most always get into an argument with the delivery dood.
speakin of poslaju center... sigh. i guess ive been on a wrong strategy when dealing with them.
lately though ive been lookin for alternatives locally and online (hlj & PA with Fedex) but i can't resist the goods/prices at Hobby Search man.
i havent had probs with smaller items though so far (knock wood).

Hi,
Just share my experience for reference.

I have purchased items from AmiAmi, HLJ and HobbySearh for quite a few times.

AmiAmi always have the cheaper price compare to 2 others, but they dont keep many stock for released items, you usually need to backorder and wait for few weeks. But for preorder items, AmiAmi is good place to shop, they r cheaper and do offer the SAL registered option which is cheaper to EMS.

HLJ recently update their system. i like their private warehouse, where you can manage your packing size for each shipment, especially you are a regularly buyer and you want to keep your shipment total items below RM500 (to avoid tax). while AmiAmi can only combined shipment based on month, let say you preorder 1 item and backorder 1 item. if these item in stock in different month, you are not able to combined shipment but have to ship them separately. HLJ items is slightly more expensive, but they do keep stock for items, so you dont have to wait too long. HLJ do not ship with SAL registered, they only provide unregistered SAL. unregistered shipment is a big no no, because there is high chance you items get MIA. But you can ship with EMS, slightly exp (~20% more) than SAL can reach MY in just 3-4 days. HLJ do have more hobby supplies choices compare to Amiami. They also provide est shipping cost before you confirm order, which is What I like most, and most of the time, you pay lesser than the actual shipping cost. HLJ do not have redemption point to collect.

HobbySearch, I only buy from them 1 or twice, coz they have the most expensive price, unless there is sales promotion or rare items, else will not shop here. I like their items listing, the have more and larger items pictures to view compare to the rest or the 2 sites. They have point to collect, same as amiami.

So Far I never get taxed by Kastam. Try to keep your items smaller and no more than Rm500 (i did order once more than 600, but no taxed), it is usually by chance.

Noob Question, I finally try AMIAMI, i place the pre-order, and I select EMS but when i proceed to confirmation it show "to be determined" on the shipment and only show the amount of money for the item. In FAQ it mentioned that when item is released they will inform us to pay, so what should i do when the item is available? (using Credit Card and already key in my detail) Do they notify us via email for payment and how does the payment been, auto-debited or we still need to reassign payment method etc?? As for the shipment via EMS, they will sent us the tracking number upon payment completion right??

Also the EMS tracking coverage includ the local postal too? Do we get to trace from beginning til it reach our footstep?

Sry for noob question!!

anyone know what is the tax rate for bringing in Gundams from hlj? i bought quite a lot. i think should be more than RM1.5k, just want to know what is the tax charges like.
If shipping them separately saves me more $$, i will ship it separately.

the tax should be around 10-15%. if you dont mind spending more time to drive to custom then separate your items. one trip to there will cost me RM30+ for toll and fuel sweat.gif

just had my first experience with custom just now, there is this old fag officer so unfriendly deserve a smack to his face vmad.gif
