Now testing SmartAss2 CPU governor for stability and battery drain... been on this in the last 24 hours or so...

you can down clock your stock rom to 1Ghz using SetCPU, etc. it is overclock that need custom kernel...

My personal usage statistics
Unrooted, Stock 2.3.6 ROM

Standby, Wifi off, 3G off, no application active 1% can sustain 3 hours
Standby, Wifi off, 3G On, no application using 3G(pure standby) 3% per hour
Portable Hotspot(tethering), screen off, 1% per minute
Play game... Infinity % per minute(never really notice this but I know it drain like hell)
Using Data(3G) about same or consume even more than playing games.

Why you use so lil one??

I'm starting to worry about my battery . :/

Standby and using is totally different case. This phone does wonder with standby but it drains pretty fast when you're using. Like today... My class starts at 2, 1.30 i get in class till 5 finish class. Quite boring class, keep hand itchy play GPS Status(to test GPS) then once in a while facebook a while this this that that... from 1.30 around 54% then 5pm finish class left 8%

for me, i only kill the app if the app is not responding

reinstall the usb driver http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956

I kill active apps and use android default Clear Memory only.
8 hours 1% full idle is very normal. Actually when you just unplug. 8 hours probably drop to 98% like that. I'm now 18hours on battery since 2am, 56% left. Did on GPS and data for quite some time. But later noon i keep sleeping and watching movie on laptop. No time touch phone. Now still got 56% laugh.gif thumbup.gif

Score does look a bit low. Even with my Slim Shady (2nd ROM), I already got 4k Antutu score biggrin.gif

Anyway, here is the conclusion of my SmartAssV2 battery benchmark after 24 hours of minimal usage. This is my only phone, so, there is minimal video, wifi, calls, etc.

From 100%-78%. So, 24 hours = 22%.

I have OnDemandX ROM ready. Will run it for the next 24 hours and report accordingly.
*
Impressive. Give some battery life test based on games. Simple one, where's my water in example. Mind test that out? Btw, what's your Max Freq for CPU for the test done? Will consider to root and flash if it impress me much laugh.gif

The ROM and kernel was not built to impress you or anyone, I built the ROM for my own used, if anyone like it, that's great.  brows.gif

ps: anyway, about the battery test, it was done in such a way because i want to test the suspend features of SmartAssV2, its a feature that the default OnDemand does not have. so, whenever the screen is off, a preferred low freq will be used by default. thus, should improved battery life.

i suspect in gaming, SmartAssV2 may eat more battery, this is because it ramp up speed more quicker than OnDemand. however, if the game is too demanding, CPU governor will not have effect anymore since the phone most likely running at max freq anyway.

in this case, undervolting of the kernel will help a bit.

the battery test was done on OC kernel, but with max freq set to 1.4ghz. i use my phone in such a way that, i only switch to 1.8ghz when needed.

battery test is boring and take a lot of time. i m currently testing OnDemandX, a variation of OnDemand but with support for early suspend. a feature that similar to SmartAssV2 that keep the freq low after screen off. i m pretty confident that this will beat both SmartAssV2 and the default OnDemand governor, in term of battery life. ^^

I think the APK you are looking for can be found in my zip:

http://www.multiupload.com/RDWN6MML4K

Look for PhotoRetouch.apk.
*
Aiya... Then don't impress me. Do some gaming and impress yourselves how the battery does so well with your ROM. Not time consuming pun. 10mins enough alrdy (10mins how many %). Help a bit la~~ wink.gif Waiting for your answer~

QUOTE(cowithgun @ Feb 6 2012, 11:22 AM)
Nice score! With the new OC ROM, not only that you can have 1.8ghz speed, you also should find that you have more available memory (which is 353mb) and lower memory usage usually between 110mb-140mb.
*
So you mean it'll probably have 210MB+- memory free to use?

If you can provide the logcat, I diagnose it. Have not encounter this with my phone.

1) connect phone to computer
2) adb logcat > log.txt
3) (do whatever to cause the crash or lag)
4) control-c in "adb locat"
5) PM me the log.txt

the custom rom suppose to make the phone faster and lighter, if u are experiencing it the other way round, something is definitely wrong...

Added on February 6, 2012, 4:24 pm

Right now, still testing OnDemandX. Need to wait until 24 hour complete for a fair comparison to SmartAssV2. The thing about battery consumption in gaming, too many variables. Each game demand differently, each part of the game demand differently. Battery level indications (how much battery left) are actually not accurate, the effect is worse in short duration benchmark like 10 minutes. For high demanding game, most likely CPU is being pushed to max anyway, so the type of Governor has no more impact. In this case, you can calculate the power saving by comparing the voltage:

Stock: 1.4ghz:1275
Aggressive undervolting: 1.4ghz:1200, 1.5ghz:1225, 1.6ghz:1250, 1.7ghz:1275, 1.8ghz:1300

Not much, but it should definitely save some power if running at 1.4ghz. What a real life test? Go test it for yourself!

About the memory, yes, as the attachment shown: 353-119=234mb free.
*
sweat.gif Anyway, thanks for the reply. I'm still thinking whether to root it. laugh.gif

The dealer where I bought my SGW offered to install ori papago for rm50, I declined coz already have sygic bought online around rm80. From experience of using Mapking (on my ol CSL spice), papago & sygic on my SE x10 & now SGW, IMHO sygic is better gps app. abit expensive than papago but it has more features. Why don't you dload and try a trial version
*
RM50? For RM50 you better top up for ORI software. Those dealers won't be giving you full license. Those normally are pirated/cracked version.

Btw, I'm answering the question by MeowNYC. Personally, I won't be buying any of those software because I'm not serious in GPS. I don't drive. It only comes in handy to look up for a place offline or going out with a friend with car which wants to go to a place she/he doesn't know how to drive there. I don't use much so I won't spend money for those. For the time being, using ehem version only lo rolleyes.gif

Those shops really cheat ppl one. Not ori still offer to install for RM50. If install once RM50... Install for 10 customer Rm500, 20 RM1000. Such a nice job? They also got it from online resources. Really black heart. This kind of dealer laugh.gif

After a month or so I met back my old "friend", the non-stop vibration when receive notification. I received a notification from Twitter mention and BAM! my phone was vibrating non-stop. As usual, had to power off then power on back the device for it to become back normal. I honestly don't know why this problem occurs. Earlier I thought it was because of the 2.3.5, but after install Cow's ROM also got this problem.
*
doh.gif Then I think what I'll be doing is just rooting my Galaxy W and run supercharger script and freeze those useless services. Cow's rom sounds like not so stable yet.

Hi new Samsung Galaxy Wonder user here...
So far been using for a month or two, and I got to say I love it so much..
Only thing when putting live wallpaper it lags, and unfortunately cannot play you tube desktop 1080p smoothly, but 720p videos stream smoothly..
Using TubeMate, the the Wonder does not support 1080p streaming like my S2 G version..

Overall 7 stars, but waiting for custom ROM..
Still not out yet..

Got arh... Cowithgun's custom rom. Many Version edi... But I'm not using. Quite weird. Some flashed no prob some flashed tonnes of problem. Btw... Adreno 205 doesn't support 1080p decoding. Particular software can let it decode 1080p but it will also be lagging like shit. Can't compare with S2. S2 either Mali400 or SGX540 both have 1080p hardware decode.
