My car just past 3 months aniversary... and...  cry.gif  just got rear-ended at LDP this morning while crusing smoothly at 80km/h. Just out of sudden hear car emergency brake from behind... and bang. Look at a brighter side, I got to test for myself the rear impact protection and headrest restraint system, it really works.

My rear bumper (together with my mugen lip  cry.gif ) koyak clips broken, bonnet cover metal part kena a bit (luckily the glass part and the lamps not affected), the rear part of the body frame distorted inwards (bonnet cannot close properly and can see bigger gap on both side of the lid after closing).

Can claim the other car insurance, but....

1) No car to use for a period of time and my job requires me to be on the road almost daily.
2) I cannot claim for the Mugen rear bumper lip..... and worst still...  cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif  I cannot just purchase the rear bumper lip by itself because it has to come in a full complete set  cry.gif  rclxub.gif

What a start for the new year for me...

Take care Bro. Better go bk to honda for repair. Dun send to outside repair shop... from my previous 2 incidents, outside repair shop use poor spray/lacquer... poor quality. The only good about them is they could probably rent u a car for free and settle the police reporting for you.

Hi insight onwer, what is the best and worst fc u guts can get with this car?

How about the noise insulation? Better than city/civic of just the same? Thx

Had been logging my petrol pump since oct 2011.

Here is the info as today.
Total Fuel: 732.57L
Total Cost: $1391.88
Total Mileage: 11916km
Fuel Economy: 5.87 L / 100km

The above info is shown by the fuel application.

Overall it is much better than my previous ride Honda City 06 vtec.

Added on February 3, 2012, 6:15 pmRealize from watonk that below link is good info on the fuel consumption of the top 2 hybrids on earth.
http://www.fuelly.com/car/honda/insight
http://www.fuelly.com/car/toyota/prius

How much can you save for average 5.8L / 100km vs 8.0L / 100km for a total mileage of 40000km?
Anyone good at math?

What are the main problems or cons of this car?
*
Higher maintenance cost
http://www.honda.com.my/insight/extra/maintenance/

Uncomfortable middle back seat, where most ppl complain

Other than above 2 cons.. i yet to think of any.

Anyone know why Honda Insight Maintenance is higher than other Honda Cars? I remember that during pre-purchase of honda insight, the SA told me the maintenance cost is going to be the same as honda City! And I remember reading in v1 that the cost is to be revise.. but all this never happen rclxub.gif And funny thing is that, while goggling, i never came across any site complaining, is it only Honda Malaysia marking up the cost?

I really wish that Honda will lower the maintenance cost of Honda Insight ... sad.gif

hmnn...I remembered my sales agent told me the same thing too about revising the maintenance cost...probably its a scam
*
Poor SA .. Is ok to pay a bit higher for maintainence .. for sure the saving on fuel will be much more. I calculated that you could save about RM400 for 5.8L/100km (my Insight) vs 8L/100km (normal car) per 10000km on current fuel price of RM 1.90/L.

Insight ice mod is the same as any other car la.... So just take to any reputable ice shop and they can do for you. As long as u don't connect anything or even touch the hybrid battery ur fine. Xenon amps are huge, won't be able to fit under the car seat. With our limited boot space u might wanna rethink especially when the hybrid battery is just below the boot space. For me I don't even wanna take any slight risk. For ice od here is my suggestion: depending on ur budget, if high, get the audison bit one as it comes with speaker level input, or audio control eq, they offer far better than those cikai brand hi lo. Get an efficient amp which is usually small, and ur ready to go. Got chance I post my setup for reference. Happy icing!!!
*
Yes. Insight ICE Mod is same as normal car. I am using back the original head unit, connecting
1) McIntosh Component speakers
2) 8 inch 250 watt Bazooka Amplified Bass Tube Subwoofer
3) Phoenix Gold 4 channel Amplifier (More than 10 years!)
All speaker wire re-route instead of using original. Any reputable shop shall do a good job. There is no issue encountered during installation but it took pretty long hours as it involve taking out the headunit, 4x door panels, back seat. The Amplifier and bass tube sit in the boot side by side.. just nice. rclxms.gif

I got some query in fuelly on how can i achieve average 19km/l.

This is my reply.

My aircond always set at 28degree. The most 26degree in the afternoon.

I always maximize my momentum by extending the charging period before stops. Abrupt stops is waste of energy.

My daily journey is on normal state road (not highway) so i can keep my speed nicely between 70-90km/h. Those were the most economical speed for Insight.

I've tried maintaining 160km/h, fuel economy drops to around 16-17km/l only.

I always make sure my average per tank hits >19km/l before fuel up. I always refuel @ indicator blink. Yeah sometimes i only get ard 18km/l only. Sometimes i purposely drive out to improve the reading, while buying burgers or something. U will notice that if u maintain speed @ 70km/h for some 5km or so, the reading will shoot up to 20+km/l for current journey. I always prevent too short journey and prefer longer route to get better mileage record.

I limit engine warmup every morning by shifting to S or L after start the engine for a few seconds and let the car crawl. Once the C (cold) indicator lights off, i resume driving normally. I notice lengthy warm up in the morning badly affect the FC.

I never/very, very seldom let the engine on while stationary e.g, stop by burger stall, go to atm machine etc.
*
yar.. letting the engine run with a/c while you waiting on the car kill the FC a lot.. I always try to off while waiting but sometimes kena scolding from wife!

Honda Malaysia make a very safe move to make it below 100k.

In Singapore Honda, http://www.honda.com.sg/cars/calculator.asp?carID=14
their website stated 2011 version is $134900, while the new FL is 137900, increased by $3k!

Good for us!

I am considering booking for Insight also, but when I read about this auto stop start function, I don't feel very comfortable with this kind of function. If we are driving in KL for example on Friday, normally the car will be stucked in jam for like 1 hour. So the car might be moving very slowly in the jam. So I am wondering, the air con will then auto shut off for 1 hour?? or It will keep auto stop and start for that 1 hour period?? Isn't that very uncomfortable if the weather is hot in the middle of KL?
*
Turn off the eco mode and it will greatly reduce/eliminate the auto stop during heavy jam. Go test drive and experience.

My Insight is wearing Stock tires, dunlop, SP 2030. Car was due for rotation/alignment/balancing at 30k. I having been doing this for every 10k.
Happily go to the tire shop, to my amaze, the front tires are GONE! Inner part of my tire is bald, white thread can been seen! The rims do run into some poth holes, a little dent, but still the tires is gone too fast, less than a year of smooth driving (achieved 5.8L/100km averagely).
Changed all the 4 tires to Achilles ATR Sport 205/45/16, cheapo tire @ 250/pc, but review is ok ba. Really tempted to change to 17 inch rim... maybe next time.
Have been driving car for years and never do encounter such a poor quality tire... if i delay my tire rotation, you could probably saw news reporting a white insight lost control, spinning on highway!

So all insighters... pay extra attention to the dunlop sp 2030 tires.Attached Image

This looks more like cause by your alignment out and toe is not align. (usually use chamber screw to align it? To prevent this from happen ?)
*
Car alignment is periodically check at every 10k, I even went for alignment again at 25k after hitting poth hole.
Some tire shop told me, chamber screw is not necessary, they can align without it.

windscreen RM675? u pay RM675 or u r insuring RM675 which i believe is not relevent
if u r paying RM675 per renewal..that means u r assuring RM4500 o_O" unless ur insurance company count the windscreen insure differently as those insurance company that i know
*
RM 675 for insured amount of RM4500 for windscreen. I am thinking of not insure windscreen. I remembered the SA told me will be cheaper for 2nd year... but it seem that the SA is wrong again.
