If you want to force start your engine (for aircond) while stepping on the brakes, the easiest way is to turn "on" and then "Off" the front windscreen demister. Another way is to tap on the accelerator while stepping on the brakes (slightly harder & riskier tongue.gif)

Thanks Bro for the advise. I will try that this weekend brows.gif

hey babysmile...my car now working...root cause -> 12V battery dead
so confirm the alarm sound that trigger was an alert that the battery going to dead soon(in 5 minutes)..consider our Insight quite "intelligent"..

call my insurance and they come over to JUMPSTART for me..
then drive to Honda service center and replace it...claim warranty..lucky 2 year warranty for 12V battery

p/s - battery dead on my car 1 year + 1 day old  sweat.gif

Hey Ryan,
wasn't browsing this for some time until I came across this yesterday, you mentioned your insurance co. came & jumpstart your car? shocking.gif

I have the same problem, i.e. dead main 12v source, car wouldn't start, even had to open the door manually as the alarm is not functioning.
Called Honda help line (HHL), request if they could send someone over to jump start, HHL says do not attempt to jump start due to Insight complicated electrical stuff, afraid it might fry some of the CB. Hence HHL have arranged to tow my car to SC in-order to start my car correctly.

Hmmm....I wonder if next time similiar dead main 12v incident to happen again, which is the correct procedure? ok to jumstart or not?

Anyone come across any bluetooth handsfree that can fit around the area of the left-missing Bluetooth steering wheel buttons?

How come the 12V battery lifespan is so short? Isn't a 12V battery last longer in Hybrid car?

probably due to the frequent start/stop of the engine?

Insight engine gets started by the IMA system under normal IMA condition, thus does not affect the 12v battery. Thus the lifespan of the 12v battery in insight depends greatly on usage of 12v accessories like aircond, lights and ICE.

the 12v batteries on the hybrid cars are abit small (NS40)...can we upgrade it to NS60 or NS70 after the warranty is over? they hold more charge and last much longer

in normal car la...the battery can upgrade can base on the alternator output, but our car the 12v batter is charge from the IMA battery. so not sure if change to big one will affect anything or not...

risky...

+1 for this

i believe the air con is somehow quite "intelligent". what i observe is, if the tempeture outside the car is same or lower than the tempeture u set. then u will get not so cold air.

I believe there're some sort of anti-fog feature in the aircond system.

Talking bout battery, last time on honda city/civic, they used to let the engine on when unplugging the 12v battery (eg. changing battery). Some say, its to prevent ecu reset. Does this applies to Insight?
