This is totally wrong. GPS speed is the most accurate because they use real time readings to calculate your speed.

The tolerance you are talking about is the absolute positional accuracy. That means that you are standing at one spot and the gps might show an inaccurate reading of 5m-15m from your real location. That depends on the gps signal strength during that time.

Speed is calculated by updating 2 or more points in real time. When you go from one spot to another spot. say first spot is 0m then next spot is 10m, gps will calculate the difference in distance with time to get your speed. So its more accurate than a speedometer thats for sure.
*
Yes, speed is calculated based on 2 points but since actual location is not very accurate(>5m range), does it make a difference if I travel from 0 to 5m? It could be the same position for gps, so can the speed still be accurate?

Just to update you guys on the 'jerking with IMA battery going low and recharge very frequently'.

i did my 38k service, they updated the IMA 'system' to the newest version. So far looks good and i definitely feel better consumption.

i'll test this out further smile.gif

My wife's insight having this problem of "recharge very frequently" and the SC unable to check and resolve, although they tried to find the cause. May i know which SC and whom did you see to rectified for you?

what was the fuel consumption before and after. My wife only able to clocked 430km for 32 liter, it is slightly better after the service with > 450km now, but still short of 500km + previously. FYI, it is full city drive with morning jam.

there are those seatbelt adapter kind of accessories that is available for those that don't want to put seatbelt so that the warning sound or light or whatever won't turn on...but i don't know where people get it...
i know it's from accessory shop sleep.gif", but which one..that i don't know

The hill-start assist is a variant of hill-holder used by some semi-automatic, clutchless transmissions. The system prevents the car from rolling away when trying to pull away on an up or down gradient, simulating a "handbrake hill start" manual drivers will be familiar with. The system engages automatically when a gradient of 3% or more is detected; it then acts to hold the car stationary for two seconds after the brake is released giving the driver time to apply the throttle.

I go to the Actmar Bukit Raja klang one. I don't know the service guy's name, just random.

Everytime i pump RM50 @ 26 litres, i can run about 480km, fc around 19km/l.
I've done another 26litres after service, i ran about 510km, fc around 21km/l.

All are 60% highway, 1 driver, max speed 105 on flat/down slope, slowing down lowest 60 on up slope "a little bit of 'hypermiling'" maybe.

and ya.. 205/45/17 with noisy dunlop tyres.

anyway i do not confirm this completely, i'll just have to observe more. so far even in jam, i don't really see the IMA goes low quickly yet, and it seems assist more often too.

On a clear day from my experience gps is accurate up to few feet. I know because i have tried many phones with papago and garmin software.

Say if your real location is 0m. But the gps is not accurate within a 5m radius, if you move 5m the radius will move 5m. So it doesnt really matter. For example if a gun shoots 2 inches from the left, then you move the gun 2 more inches to the left, the gun will shoot 4 inches to the left, you get what i mean?

Do you know that world record top speed for cars is actually using GPS as their test speed? If its not accurate then why they bother to use it in the first place, think about it. icon_rolleyes.gif

Gee, thanks for the info. pls update later the impact of the fuel usage.

The SC guy told you for the update of IMA or you ask for it? it is of new version? hmmm... what version I am having????

I got to monitor more before making arrangment to the BR Klang SC. smile.gif thanks for the sharing

I thought this should be the case, ie. holding the car before we press the gas paddle. But it seems that my wife's car will drop without holding cry.gif

during the stop time, u need to press hard on the brake. it also depend to the slope height.
from my point of view, the assist is very minimal n sometime i also not dare to believe it. i will pull the handbrake before let go my brake if during that time the engine still off.

Thanks for pointing it out. I read somewhere saying that speedometer accuracy also affected by tyre wear and tear while gps given more accurate at normal/high speed. If the car is moving very very slow(traffic jam I believe), gps will give a more accurate speed for 10mins driving (better average) while speedometer will give more accurate speed for 2 seconds moving.

You need to step on the brakes harder for steeper slope. but I think there is a limit to it on the incline level

I thought it's a malfunction at first. Does this feature really help? Even on normal road, I can feel sometimes the car rolls back a bit from brake to acceleration.

Btw, I see most of the time my car is showing fuel n battery usage on normal flat road with constant moderate speed, I thought only battery should be used as shown in the brochure?

Yes, hill assists does help, you just need to step harder on the brake when come to a stop on a slope. However if it is too steep, then it might not work well.

the activation of Electric only motor (EV) needs time to get use to it. should be able to activate it with light pressure on the accelerator at around 30 to 55km/h. Also depends on the battery charge level, you will find it easier to activate if the battery charge level are high.

The easiest way to activate this mode, is, when travelling on a normal flat road at around 40km/h, lift you leg off the accelerator slightly (not completely off), then apply a little bit of pressure.

basically, just drive like when u r learning driving on the "left" lane
[i'm quite frustrated with those on the right lane at that speed..thus i emphasize the word "left"..]

regarding the hill assist....
please do not rely a lot on it..
this function is there to "assist" on certain occasions on the road
normally, nowadays auto trans vehicles have this kind of function..with different nomenclatures..
