again, what did you do to that part to prevent the sound?

BTW, has anyone tried compared the FC for both the ECON ON and ECON OFF? what's the difference in FC?

and with ECON ON, what's does it really do to save FC? Supposely lower A/C, slower speeds, more Autostop, but what are the Honda's claims / percentages?

Just tried to cover that gap with tape and the wind sound gone. Now going to find some kind of rubber lining or flaps to cover it.

FC wise for normal driving is similar when Econ on or off. But if you really into hypermilling, driving with featherlike throttle, trying to get best FC record, u can get extra few km/l with Econ on.

Point no 6 well taken.

Anyway got a new discovery today. All the above points was carefully studied today and i found that everything quite flush and well fit (except point 6 that u just brought up). Compared to my other car with much inconsistent gaps and fitting, there's no way point 1 to 5 contribute to the whistling sound. And I notice the whistle only happens when the speed is 100km/h WITHOUT ANY CAR IN FRONT OF ME.

This further convinced me on the conclusion about the whistling sound came from the front top area of the car. Out of nowhere, i got this crazy idea of releasing the bonnet (but still hooked) and drive it to 100km/h. Conclusion, NO SOUND.

After much observation, i notice there is a gap between bonnet and plastic paneling at the bottom part of windscreen. The rubber lining between that plastic panel and bonnet is flush but slightly sink, making a nice gap for wind to spoilt and whistle at certain velocity going through them. When i release the bonnet, the gap was disturb.

Later I tried to cover them with tape and walla.... 100% no whistling sound.

I will look for a proper rubber lining or flaps to beef it up and took some picture so u can understand / pin point the location. Now back to silent driving  thumbup.gif

Something like this is very embarassing. Didn't know honda can be like a proton. doh.gif

Even my old proton also don't have wind sound (maybe because engine sound so loud that cannot hear anthing else! ha ha ha) cool.gif

Will check and experiment this weekend

Thanks

Initially I wanna go straight to SC. But no time to go as the issue is not really that serious and hesitate when I imagine how unprofessional our mechanics are. Malaysia still way behind in term of taking complaint seriously. Sometimes they will reply with 'thats normal' or even worst troubleshoot items that is not really the root cause. Been into that kinda situation before with other make (local and japanese make). I've had it with most SC in Malaysia.

So i tried to address the issue with this simple try-error and also surprise it works. The other factor is, agree with shaun, the Insight is really silent (wind and engine wise) when we really lite on throttle. So this on-off whistling sound became more apparent.

The only problem is i'm yet to found any suitable rubber lining or flaps to cover it. I plan to stick the lining from inside the bonnet. Besides that, i know that we can adjust/ align the bonnet by undoing the mounting assembly (left and right). But not sure whether the freeplay is enough to adjust the bonnet slightly towards the windscreen.

Hope the same solution will solve your whistling problem. As mention by ckk, his Inspira whistle at the side mirror. Yes its a different car but the same car could emit noise/whistle from different location.

i guess installing air deflector could eliminate our whistling sound.. may be lah.. but where to get it? order abroad? so costly!
check link below:
