had similair symptoms on my errr, old coolpix 995 years back, batt shows full charge, click a few times, then its totally exhausted, got a new battery and everything ok after. I then charge n discharge the old batt a few times, it was still useable, but capacity 1/2 compared to when it was new, battery life about 1.5 years only

suspect your batt maybe fake/copy. checkout nikon's website for telltale signs of fake batteries in the market

no need go far far, can lepak danau kota area or wangsa maju area

that makes it 3 of us in danau kota/setapak/melati area, can do small TT liao.....

and when we TT, don't forget to bring your new camera......hehehe

danau kota got a few mamak, shud be able to find parking, but have to choose days which dont have midnite pasar malam, else traffic worst than klcc....

another place i can think of is melati utama, shoplots next to MRR2, got a few places, paparich,mamak, etc

so many live nearby GK, like dat, its already a gathering ....

so what was the problem of the BG? thought you mentioned it was your camera that couldn't get the BG to function properly?

I thought Belum is in a thick dense jungle area no? I remember the area clearly from the view up from a heli......maybe that was 20 years ago

have you tried the new lens or used ones?

if you have a regular shop you buy stuff from, try and ask if they can let you try new in the box lens.

i wouldn't use/compare stuff in the BTS centre as guideline, god knows how many zillions of bacteria are on the camera ! maybe can get owners to bring their 16-35mm to try during the TT session with Ifer, or ask Ifer to bring a new one to try from Nikon....

yup, exactly what i would do, if it was made alittle loose compared to other FL lenses, then it is probably the way it was desgined, but if it becomes loose after usage, it will indicate high usage of the ring.

my 12-24 focus ring is alittle loose compared to my other lenses, but doesn't afffect the quality of the photos nor the operatiion of the focusing. my 105mm vr micro seems to be more firm so far.

maybe you are referring the loose feeling as the slack? the looseness before it actually moves focus? I think there are few zooms which happens to have this slack, esp the f/4 lenses, but the f2.8 ones sems to be more firm/ precise with no slack. i have 2 f/4 zooms and the focus rings seems to behave similairly compared to the 105mm f/2.8, which feels less 'loose'. i have not tried a 16-35mm so i can't comment further

DOF on a DX is ultra thin if you open wider. The angle of the photo should be higher to get the whole dish infocus. Unless you are taking a specific detail of the dish, i.e. showpiece of the dish sharpest while other part of dish little blurred out, then the whole dish should be infocus/sharp all the way. From the photo, it looks like you should have used f8 to get everything on the plate infocus, and probably f11/f16 to get the edge of the plate sharp, i think by then you SS would have been like 1/2 sec or so already

you need to add another zero at the end of your camera......

you can actually put your camera on the backrest top part of the chair to prevent shake, or turn the chair around/sideways . another is to wrap your left arm around the lens and press it hard against your face

some technics can get you as low as 1/2 sec without VR, i can actually go 1 sec with VR and get pix really sharp, abbutthen i usually take 5-6 shots just in case i dont get any infocused shots

my first additional gear is always a flashgun, hell i have 2 SBs, but i dunno if the R1C1 does count in as 1 or 2 , if its 2 then 1 have 4 flashes.....

their iris is not developed, if you use flash, bouce it to the ceiling with a diffuser on it, best use highest ISO ur camera can take, fast prime, forget about getting other stuff in focus, your subject is the baby, possibly the face and shoulders. You might wanto adjust your WB using manual K to get the correct skintones, get it right, the baby would have a glowing skin
Once you get your WB correct, try MC pix for that classic feel look
