yeah, very well said, especially for those who don't understand the fundamental basics of photography, the D700 is way advance.

that was what I tought too, but I feel it is better to buy a dedicated vidcam to take videos, btw it doesn't take much skill to take good videos, just a good vidcam,
then comes along the D800 which will probably change how we do things.......damn , i gotta upgrade now....hehehe another thing is that I dont think any camera will stop taking good pix when new camera comes out, its usually the person holding the camera who suddenly takes lousy pix just to upgrade their gears This post has been edited by ojtee: Mar 2 2012, 11:08 PM |

some selling their D700 to get D3s/x as the D3 users are going for the D4, natural upgrade path.

QUOTE(Sadru @ Mar 3 2012, 03:19 PM) now i am confused further, between a prime 35mm or 17-50 tamron non vc. given i only had 1.2k to spend and no lens atm.. this going to be my first lens nothing to be confused about, the 2 lens different specifics1. 35mm - faster, good low lite speed, good general FL, has good IQ 2. 17-50mm - wider range FL, good if you are into landscape and can equal a portrait lens you didnt mentioned what kind of photograpghy you are into, so you will only get a generalized use of the elnses, I believe you have a kitlens, so the 35mm would probably be a good addition to it, else get the 17-50mm |

QUOTE(Sadru @ Mar 3 2012, 06:24 PM) really? vc is vr is vibration control/reduction.thank for the input, i guess 17-50 will suit me best. i sorta have a knack into fashion / portraiture. atm only had the body only without lens ;( now the problem continues as i know the 17-50 had 2 version, either with VC or wihout? i am using d90 body btw.. push up your budget to 1.8k you can get a VC, with that smae amount of money, you can get an exc good used 16-85mm nikkor, way better IQ IMHO. btw pm me if you are interested in the 16-85mm..... |

I remove the strap if i was gonna shoot vertically, i have a quick disconnect system I leave the disconnected strap on my neck, then when i wanto hang it back, i just connect the quick connects back
I also modified a nikon handstrap so it will work with the quick connect. the brand is optech usa.....! |

I think Tony is using the D3s , which has a BG built-in, thus when shooting vertically, maybe part of the strap hinders control of part of the vertical controls and making it difficult to control the controls of the vertical controls
i hope im making some sense...... |

QUOTE(TearsOfLuv @ Mar 6 2012, 12:02 AM) I currently own a D90 and with its 18-105mm kit lens and a 50mm 1:18D. Looking to upgrade into a decent overall all rounder lens to replace my 18-105 kit. Any sifus here willing to enlighten me ? Most photos I shoot are like objects or portraiture. the current lens you ahve is quite good already, unless yoiu are contemplating to get one of those pro lenses.and you didn't mentioned your budget, so i am presuming money is not an object for you. bascially you would be looking at getting a faster lens and looks like you would also be looking at the short ot medium tele FL as you didn't mention if you were going to do landscape or not. here are my suggestions 1. 24-70 f2.8 + 50 f1.8D 2. 70-300 f4.5 VR + 50 f1.8D 3. 24-70 f2.8 + 85 f1.4D / G 4. 70-200 f2.8 + 50 f1.8D 5. 16-85 f3.5-5.6 + 50 f1.8D if you are keen on a used 16-85mm, pm me for details |

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Mar 6 2012, 01:14 PM) Yeah, I have been doing that but sometime I failed to trigger when I wanted to do back lighting. Pocket Wizard has released their 3rd version of their wireless trigger, izzit? Su-800 is another alternative, only disadvantage is the distance and it need to be as clear as possible to trigger slave, altough i did try to trigger a slave behind a door, it still did. |

QUOTE(kappa89 @ Mar 8 2012, 11:44 AM) Sure a? Ok. now currently i got 10k. got d300s with tamron 17-50 non vc. i would like to get macro, wide angel and for sure 70-200 vr2 to complete my collection of lenses. any recommendation for these 2 lenses? Macro and wide angel. i dont mind to topup a bit. my recommendations base on my same camera setup and wish listwide angle 1. 12-24mm nikkor f/4 DX - good DX zoom /can pair if you have 24-70 / 24-120 2. 16-35mm f/4 VR - i m a VR fan ! macro 1. 105mm f/2.8 nikkor micro - hands down 2. 200mm f/4 nikkor micro - for ultra serious macro work some will say 14-24mm , 24-70mm and 70-200mm, the trinity , thats over 15k already! |

QUOTE(eugene88 @ Mar 10 2012, 06:57 PM) get an external mic, use a tripod whenever possible, or else use left palm to support, while right hand for controls. you'd probably need a f1.8 lens or fast to get good exposure, or else, your film will look too grainy.you can only record 20mins max per session, so plan n make the most of it, and dont forget a 30x sdhc card, or else video will lag |

QUOTE(donbao @ Mar 21 2012, 11:37 AM) Hi everyone... are you capturing individuals or groups portraits? or candid?i wan ask about which best lens super zoom to use at evening party in low light n do necessary need speedlight? every low light needs some kind of light source, if environment is well lit, you maybe able to get away with a fast lens f1.4/f1.8 with a high ISO, but since you mentioned zoom, nothing comes close to a 70-200mm VR |

QUOTE(0168257061 @ Mar 22 2012, 11:56 AM) true, if it aint broken, don't fixiti believe, when you send these complicated lens for service, they 'have to' change some parts inside, because it's 1 time use, i.e. once open cannot re-use, as to get to the dust, the whole thing gotta be dismantled to bare pieces. hopefully someone has send it in before and can give some feedback, i have personnaly met someone who had to pay rm900 to get the AF fixed, he mentioned the VR had to be changed once it is opened..... |
