QUOTE(hkenh @ Mar 15 2012, 09:02 PM) 5cm difference only compared to the other 85mms, which isnt really much considering the mfd is 80cm.Added on March 15, 2012, 9:14 pmonly thing i wanna know with the new 85mm 1.8G is what diameter the lens hood opening is. cos with the 1.8D, even tho its 62mm, with the lens hood on you can put a more normal 77mm pinch cover over it...so no need to use the original lens cover which cannot really use with hood on. Added on March 15, 2012, 9:23 pmi find it weird that almost all the 85mm 1.8G reviews online doesnt compare it to the 1.8D. while the 50mm ones everyone everywhere was comparing This post has been edited by Everdying: Mar 15 2012, 09:23 PM |

the one kai used to shoot inside a studio?
maybe if he go outside in real sunlight will be same as the 1.8d? Added on March 15, 2012, 9:38 pmhere u go, 1.8G fringing. http://www.photozone.de/nikon_ff/717-nikkorafs8518ff?start=1 1.8G has slightly better bokeh than 1.8D, and probably better edge sharpness...tho center i would guess wont be much difference. still must be something missing somewhere if the price is the same as the 1.8D This post has been edited by Everdying: Mar 15 2012, 09:38 PM |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Mar 15 2012, 09:39 PM) guess its like the 50mm 1.8D and 1.8G, both also got 7-blades but 1.8G got better bokeh cos rounder design.so probably the 85mm 1.8G wide open is just as round as the 9-blade one. but of cos the 50mm 1.8D bokeh is worse looking than 85mm 1.8D. can see the photozone reviews and compare. G. http://www.photozone.de/nikon_ff/717-nikkorafs8518ff?start=1 D. http://www.photozone.de/nikon_ff/622-nikkorafd8518ff?start=1 Added on March 15, 2012, 9:52 pm QUOTE(hkenh @ Mar 15 2012, 09:46 PM) 1.8D is made in thailand and made of metal, 1.8G is made in china and made of plastic. That might explain the affordable price of the new 1.8G. older 1.8D made in japan This post has been edited by Everdying: Mar 15 2012, 09:52 PM |

QUOTE(seather @ Mar 15 2012, 11:08 PM) my US fren juz pre-order a D800.... (previous rig is D7000 + 18-200mm) wah ur fren terror after i told her the difference between DX n FX... she is asking if the 28-300 3.5-5.6 VR is a good lens... coz she don have money to buy "gold ring" lens anymore i haven used it b4... any ideas everyone? if ken crockwell is to be believed, 28-300 should have gotten the gold ring as it has the same construction as the 24-120 f/4. kinda waste buying 28-300 and use on a D800 tho. good body deserves better lenses |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Mar 17 2012, 03:23 PM) If D800 follow the same flow like D700... 3-4 years seems right the pro bodies does follow about 4yrs from D2, D3 and now D4...if include D3s then its only 2yrs.while prosumer bodies from D200 to D300 roughly follow 2yr timeline, until of cos now the D400 and D800 come and mess up the timeline i would guess any future D500 and D900 would go back to the 2yr timeline. |

ya, its slightly underexpose.
if it was me, i'll crop it tighter to get rid of the empty spaces on the top etc. also since got so much noise, one thing u can also try is convert b&w and use selective color to bring out just the satay and sauce color. |

QUOTE(kingcrow @ Mar 18 2012, 06:44 PM) Hi I own a D7000. Would like to know which prime lens i should opt for(new to photography and first prime lens) . My kit lens is the 55-105mm. And also woyld like to know the effectiveness of a reverse ring compared to a macro( or micro for nikkor)lens. Where do i get my hands on one? if u want macro, perhaps consider the nikon 40mm f/2.8 macro lens, rm800-900 i think...either way i think its the cheapest macro lens around now.or slightly higher, tamron got a 60mm f/2.8... Added on March 18, 2012, 9:39 pmanyway...here i was curious about the D800... then it said batt life is around 850 shots... then i thought...ok...get a grip... then the grip street price in US is USD450! zzz. QUOTE(Calvin Seak @ Mar 19 2012, 08:35 PM) Us pricing quite weird 1 also, like the d7k price is around 2xx usd close to rm700.. But in Malaysia can get for rm 450!! But their camera seems cheaper.. Why oh whY cos nikon, like other companies, already do market survey that shows asians are earning more and spending more |

QUOTE(eugene88 @ Mar 19 2012, 11:04 PM) How to lock focus on a target while shooting video? i know for D7000 got a option for subject tracking in video. Is there anyway to not focus on anything during shooting video? If video got out of focus scenes, it is impossible to refocus using any software right? i only used it one time so cant remember much, and i dont really do video...so yea go check ur manual. |

nikon japan already released statement that said they cannot meet all the pre-orders.
that probably means, current batch wont be for general sale unless u pre-order early. and next batch, will go out for the rest of the pre-orders nikon couldnt meet initially. so keep waiting i guess Added on March 20, 2012, 8:16 pmhttp://nikonrumors.com/2012/03/19/nikon-d800-to-start-shipping-this-week.aspx/#more-36148 Added on March 20, 2012, 8:17 pmhttp://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-57400052-1/nikon-expects-d800-shortages/ Added on March 20, 2012, 8:58 pmi know what i'll be doing. wait 6 more months, then for sure will have ppl selling off their D800 with reason - quit photography.
