yes, only from authorised dealer for bodies, ie. with nikon malaysia warranty card.

17-55 i think not easy to claim warranty unless u got a 2010-11 set.
nikon sure suspect if u send in with fake receipt from 2011-12, but the lens serial dates to like 2007 etc.
maybe can be pulled off with lenses like 50mm 1.8d or so, but not 17-55 as u hardly find old stock lying around in shops.

but it does come with malaysia warranty card, only problem is Nikon see the receipt that wasn't from one of the authorised dealer during the claim

if really can't claim, i would rather pay 500 more just to play safe and get 12 months warranty in case anything goes wrong like faulty sensor etc
*
basically, the warranty card must be from nikon malaysia AND have dealer chop on it.
if the dealer doesnt want to chop the card, then look elsewhere.

but i know of a certain seller here also who seems to pirates shop's chops...and no action has been taken yet.

so yea, safest is to buy from actual shops that u know are proper dealers.

hopefully price will settle by next month and all the reviews will be out
dowan to buy first batch in case got some faulty thing in it (like fuji X10's sensor), at least after some reviews you can make judgement
*
x10 sensor is not faulty, it just doesnt handle bloom as well as ppl with sticks up their ass think it should.
1st batch, 2nd batch, whatever batch until last month batch the sensor is still the same.

for nikon, seriously doubt will have any issues with sensors...perhaps 1st batch or so maybe like D7000 that time where they over-oiled the shutter mechanism.

is it??? . . . but i thought Fuji alr said they will change the sensor with a modified one for free
*
i know.
but the fact remains is the sensor is not faulty.
other cameras also will bloom, just x10 doesnt handle it as well.
normal everyday pics its perfectly fine.

better, but would u be able to tell the difference in sharpness without a chart? unlike say a cheap 50mm 1.8d where its obviously already wide open its not sharp.
i see 24 1.4G shots already and its plenty sharp.

btw, just wondering on ur 70-200 faulty AF.
how do u store ur lens?
lying flat, or standing up?
would standing it up and not using it for awhile have something to do with it going faulty? cos of gravity and all the weight of the glass pushing down on whatever is inside?

normally i use 200iso on my d90 but never use l0.3, l0.7 and l1.0 before. what's the iso number for those 3 special numbers?
*
u can assume L1.0 is 1 step, so ISO100.
so the other 2, probably say somewhere around ISO130 and ISO160.

Lying down. I asked them what cause it to spoil, Nikon center said don't know and claimed mine is the 'first unit'.

I think maybe the fluid dry up and the AF stuck LOL.

few months ago i was at a TT, and a 70-200VR2 died right in front of me with AF issues.

I saw got D800+28-300 VR kit, isn't it cheaper to get the kit and sell off the lens?
*
28-300 is not a easy lens to sell off.

http://www.kirainet.com/english/nikon-d800/

Judging at this,

It would be between D800 and D800 E, around RM11k Street

Let assume the lens worth 2k, then meaning one get D800 for 9k only.
*
and how is the future buyer for the 28-300 going to claim warranty?
unless u specifically ask that site to write u 2 seperate receipts for body + lens, which dunno if they will since its considered as a kit...
or u give ur receipt away to the future buyer.

plus D800 will be rm9.5k here, saving rm500 is not worth it at all with no local warranty for body.
