Ello mangs, Nexus user reporting in! Wanna ask how to update the G.Nexus for yakjuxw.
If I change from yakjuxw to yakju, gets updates directly from Google right? Any changelogs from 4.0.1 to anything onwards?

EDIT : Following Android Central's guide can directly skip directly to yakju??

welcome to the community. your question already pinned in FAQ of the first page. you already read it, aren't you?
official google build the latest is 4.0.2. I will say nothing much in changelogs from 4.0.1, only obvious changelogs applied for 4.0.3, mostly are various bug fixes but only available in custom rom.

If you need more info, this is the best site you can find:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1336

And the procedures as stated in Android central is one of the commonly used procedures to upgrade or you can refer to xda forum for alternatives eg using GNex toolkit to upgrade firmware

its probably Sprint version, they are getting their GNex so late, its probably better for them to get a slightly upgraded version. smile.gif

SGX 544 is not a 'slight upgrade'. It's in the same class as the iPad 2 GPU, which was expected to be in the current Galaxy Nexuses since TI was announced as a partner. We all know what GPU ended up being chosen.

Having multiple hardware configurations for the same model name will give problems when it comes to modding. Just look at the Galaxy S II range of phones in US. For one, mods are not inter-flashable. The modding future of a variant depend on whether devs are picking it up.

Just look at the AT&T Galaxy S II and the Galaxy S II Skyrocket. The skyrocket has so much less ROMs compared to the non-skyrocket. The only difference is the screen IINM (4.3" VS 4.5").

Hopefully that SGX 544 on the NenaMark scoresheet is just a build.prop mod. That FPS bump is significant though. Epic GPU kernel overclock coming up? Haha.

for me, nth gud or bad, is usual for thing getting better.

is from TI OMAP 4460 upgrade to OMAP4470.
spec comparison from TI site, comparison among 4430, 4460 & 4470 in the table.
AnandTech Review

as we always said; don't wait, never ending waiting for better spec or model.

lol, I am completely aware of how good SGX544 is. But to me it doesn't matter, why? There aren't any games that SGX544 can play while the SGX540 can't, and that's what GPU matters. Which is also why Mali400 being a better GPU still doesn't concern me at all.

it's like PC hardware, you don't need a GTX590 to play games, my HD5770 play every games just fine.

you need GTX590 if you're really super duper serious hardcore gamer tongue.gif
anyway, our ultimate first goal as Nexusian, always get latest Android OS is us, Nexus. not really care on every improvement of CPU & GPU unless the gap are really too huge.
