QUOTE(Kampung2005 @ Aug 26 2013, 09:17 PM) I am not sure if it is only me, but do you think the station footprint is larger than most existing KJ line stations? Yup, it does seem to be a bit wider.. The main portion spans across 4 columns.. Taking Bangsar as a comparison, Bangsar is only 3 columns wide.. I suppose this station is special as it sits partially above the depot reception tracks as well..? The portion near the stairs on the left should just be the link bridge..

QUOTE(lilzany @ Aug 28 2013, 04:33 PM) simple way is too just give a name to the line then we will forget about LRT/MRT because it is really not much difference between the two If MRT/LRT already cannot remember, lagi worse if using Kelana Jaya Line, Ampang Line, Sri Petaling Line or Sungei Buloh - Kajang Line..

OK, here's my contribution though it is not a lot.. Pre-extension https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...827410472_n.jpgBefore the commencement of extension works, it is a simple set up where the tracks lead into the depot (called Reception Tracks [RT]).. The old Kelana Jaya Line had a portion of the viaduct flared, probably in anticipation of an eventual extension (which in this case really did happen, albeit 15 or so years later).. Works to be done https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...147916158_n.jpgHere, you can see the intended set up.. The original RT tracks are where they are.. But the ones going towards Gombak will probably be removed and replaced by the orange line, the new outbound RT track.. Once this viaduct is up and connected, they can begin track work on the mainline represented by red as the turn out works (cross over) can be installed on the inbound RT track (for trains going to depot).. They will need to keep 1 RT track open at any single time to supply trains to the main line for daily operations.. In my experience in Singapore, with proper preparation, a turn out can be installed within 48 hours.. Now on to pictures..! https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...752990850_n.jpgHere you can see the extension of the existing flared viaduct before crossing the NKVE into the depot.. https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...514490820_n.jpgA close up showing the immediate extension.. https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._44215485_n.jpg https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...605283566_n.jpgDemolition of the existing parapet at the interface point is underway.. https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hpho...859244486_n.jpgThis is where the outbound RT track will connect with the extension main line.. And subsequently merge to the existing track towards Kelana Jaya..

Con't https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...543309547_n.jpgHere you can see that they have done up most of the main line viaduct leading across NKVE.. Next to it is a pier for the outbound reception track that is being built.. https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...268088828_n.jpgA view of the extension turn out.. https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...580936996_n.jpg1 more SBG to go before full completion of the span across NKVE.. I know everybody is waiting for it.. But you'll have to go through round 2 for the new RT track before any hanging above the NKVE is over.. https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...262969132_n.jpgTracks going to Station 01.. https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...573399014_n.jpgRT track pier on the Lembah Subang side of NKVE.. https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...358013395_n.jpgNew shed inside depot area.. https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._47485934_n.jpgDepot-side support structure for Station 01.. The concourse will deck over the existing RT track for sure..

Con't https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...927582999_n.jpgCurrent state of Station 01.. https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...222010686_n.jpgStill on concourse slab.. https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...155142181_n.jpg https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...107960927_n.jpgGood to see that they are improving station access.. This entrance has 2 escalators and a set of stairs.. Also, an elevator to get up to concourse level.. https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...187857524_n.jpgTurning to go over the depot.. In future, you will get really good views from there.. I will like this section because it goes up really high, I like those as you get good views.. https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hpho...750149753_n.jpgOne of the many portal frames in the depot area with a train going under it.. https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...140234668_n.jpgStation 02 gantry is just over the first portal frame across the river.. Pretty slow going if you ask me.. Been here for ages.. https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...450124672_n.jpgRT tracks from Station 02 still waiting for SBGs to be launched upon the piers.. The good thing is that RapidKL can send empty trains direct to Kelana Jaya station to ease crowding in future, without having to go through any of the extension stations picking up people and making it more crowded down line..

Con't https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...851168615_n.jpgTail end of Station 02 launch gantry.. https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...021410820_n.jpgStation 02 area.. https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...290276634_n.jpgViaduct towards Station 03.. Sorry, I didn't have time to go beyond this.. https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...110556427_n.jpgStation 02 launch gantry.. https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...761754644_n.jpgExisting RT.. The left lane should be removed in future.. This will allow the trains to turn out to the extension track further up before it comes down this slope.. https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hpho...498439674_n.jpgStructure of Station 01 where concourse slab will go over existing RT is visible.. https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...207722769_n.jpgLike a modern day Stonehenge... I think its really cool.. https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...384529120_n.jpgNew RT pier before the NKVE.. That wraps it up folks..! Till my next trip to KL, which I hopefully can cover more stuff..

Quite an interesting set of tracks there.. Wonder why they have it so wide for so long.. Perhaps another cripple siding..?

USJ section looks good.. But really need the Lembah Subang and Subang Jaya sections to link up so trains can get to USJ..

QUOTE(sabre23t @ Oct 31 2013, 01:21 PM) About the wide crossing near Kelana Jaya extension station 2. I understand that is for the additional third track for storing trains, similar to thr third track near Kelana Jaya line University station. Ah, thanks a lot for the info.. Would be good if they provisioned a turn out for the future LRT3 as well since station 2 is so near the depot that a cripple siding there seems to be a lot of extra storage, heheh..

QUOTE(sabre23t @ Nov 6 2013, 12:18 PM) A few notes ... (1) KLJ LEP Station 2 is north of NKVE (2) KLJ LEP Station 3 is south of NKVE (3) Logical connection to KLJ LEP depends on which area (North or South of NKVE) will be served by LRT3 (4) Branch network usually doesn't make sense for LRT line where capacity are already limited by train length and frequency, because the two branches will always have half the maximum capacity of the trunk line. (5) Limitation of branch network for LRT can be seen on RapidKL AMG Line: Chan Sow Lin to Ampang branch and Chan Sow Lin to Sri Petaling branch. (6) So a branch from KLJ LEP to LRT3 even if possible at this late stage, may not make sense technically. Connection would still be useful as they can transfer rolling stock from the depot should the systems be the same I suppose.. I do agree with the limitations you have raised up though, especially on capacity issues.. In my opinion, time to abandon LRT in KL.. Make use of more commuter rail systems for longer distances or MRT for shorter distances..

QUOTE(lilzany @ Nov 29 2013, 03:42 PM) Finally finally the pillars are up. I think the delay along Jalan Jengka SS 15/17 because the foundation needs more earthwork. They have like dug up the whole soil and then put it in a square perimeter steel sheet. I wonder what foundation is this? Any engineers can explain why this over bore piling like the ones in USJ area etc? Should be for pile cap works I suppose. Usually within the square they would do the bored pile foundation works and then seal off with a concrete block. On top of this, the pier is constructed.
