Calling for savvy 2005 (early batch), please go change you effected rear spindle..
i myself once go to proton ask bout replacement on recall program but due to time constraint i delay it til 2011 which later on i regret cause program ended.. that time i think just bearing problem so change to new one.. up til 2012 sept, it is ok.. suddenly strange noise appear from rear wheel.. suspect brake drum.. service it twice.. still noisy.. then..

just recently, my lil brother in law drive the car and it end up overheat and funny smell.. the next two day he go to a tyre shop and ask the shop bout the strange noise and smell, halfway during testdrive to diagnose the smell n noise, sh*t happen.. rear wheel got disengaged..

end up tow, change spindle, bearing, brek etc related to rear wheel cost near rm1k..

so anyone that driving 2005 early batch car, please check your car at proton service centre or reliable shop, check did the spindle already been changed on proton re-call program or not..

something like my lil bro experience is not good for our heart and pocket.. well might end up accident and risk your life..

gosh, we sometimes did 160kmh on that car.. thank god it did not happen during speeding..

as i mention, its my lil bro who drive the car nowaday.. so the car is with him at kelana jaya while i stay in seremban..

u can google out the picture of a savvy spindle assembly and can find info on "rear spindle problem" in savoc.net forum..

vegnagun, migh be same might be not.. just change before something terrible like my car happen..
i also like u before this, just change bearing.. kinda worry if that thing fly out during high speed or worse case during cornering.. already hit 160kmh few time with those problematic rear spindle.. thank god no sh*t happen during the "high speed action"..

all three are good for savvy..

all got pro and cons..

renaultech (subang)
- good = good repair and faster,
-bad = expensive compare to other two.

RSauto (shah alam)
- good = cheap and advice if no need change, previously work at renaultech..
- bad = less worker, slow work and lotsa car.

Dell cun auto (osman baba) KLANG
- good = both of above,
- bad = quite far.. sometimes busy (need to call before come)..

*end up depend on location, time and pocket.

kereta sakit mesti cari doctor pakar bukan cari setengah masak doctor.

doctor pakar charge tinggi sekali sahaja tak perlu pergi kedua kali.  no waste petrol and time
doctor setengah masak charge rendah tapi perlu pergi kedua kali atau ketiga kali atau kali-kali. waste petrol and time.

i'm no sifu but i tested the cheap rm25 gear oil (pumped type).. hell no to that oil.. use less for 500km.. change back to ori elf gear oil.. expensive but nice smoothness to change gear..

make sure rating and velocity same as the elf one, then you're ok to go with any brand and price..

"Elf Tranself NFJ 75W-80 Gear Oil 1L RENAULT Approved"
price around 42 per litre last i change..

QUOTE(mosh @ Feb 28 2013, 12:53 PM)
hi bro's..

sorry.. refresher question & answer for me.

need to service the my AMT and wanna DIY myself. previously i send to workshop for service and collect at the end of the day.

robotic oil in the proton service list is the ELF D3Syn ? or different ?
last time proton put the shell gear oil in my car. is this diffrent oil ?
*
I'm no AMT user, but lotsa my savoc friend using elf d3 oil for the robotic aka AMT oil..

the rules of thumb is as long as thickness and rating of oil same, its ok..

* but do ask for mechanic opinion rather asking a non AMT user.. hehe..

i already replace and service all my brake weeks before that event..
might be drum brake not same grip at back.. back side sway not front..
already change both brake pump at back..

ok.. thats help a lot and lotsa info.. from what i seen and know, savvy owner that convert to starlet 4e engine use starlet disc brake all around their wheels..
maybe you can look into it if you want to change the back to disc..

mine front disc rotor once skimmed cause already uneven..
bosch brakepad a bit hard and braking power not that good for me..
thats why i try bendix.. but dirty cause a lot of brake dust.. spray my rim bronze to cover it up.. then later change rim to red colour.. need to wash weekly basis else lots black spot appear on rim..

* talking bout it come off during corner.. one of my car wheel did come off before.. the wheel spindle / rear bearing kaput.. thank god it happen during check up with foremen.. car use by my brother in law that time..

** mine is 2005 first batch which should change the spindle base on recall but did not yet change.. went to proton on 2009 but i did not have time and transportation to leave my car to change it.. lesson learn on 2012.. haha..

My little ride got problem.. today my bro told me the savvy so heavy to accelerate after 2k rpm on idle or any gear..

after a spin, i think engine got problem. Not bearing wheel problem cause not wheel related.. engine response turtle slow and weird noisy sound is from engine also..

so if send shop, top overhaul? Or worse change engine? Anyone have experience like this on savvy or different ride?

Yikes.. serving me well for over 3 years.. now got this kinda prob, sad..
