QUOTE(pisang @ Jan 21 2012, 03:38 AM) 1 or 2 more days is still acceptable la. btw, is that necessary to have the iphone clean (meaning RESTORE it back to factory setting) before we can jailbreak? I don't think so. I restored mine because I could not disable my passcode (it was greyed out) some sort of tweak that my company implemented if I were to be able to retrieve my email in the iPhone, and since the instructions mentioned that I should switch off the passcode, I got no choice but to restore the iPhone. Works okay. I'm syncing all my apps now after the jailbreak. Takes some time but I'd rather have a clean jailbreak than some problems later on. Added on January 21, 2012, 8:47 amUpdate: I've updated the OP with a link on where to download the latest version of Absinthe (from iClarified). Please use the latest version which should solve the server issues. This post has been edited by azraeil: Jan 21 2012, 08:47 AM

All Apps have been sync (one app fails to sync ... so will need to download it again from the AppStore via the Purchased App options).
Now syncing iBooks (let's hope iBooks are okay) and my music.

Now need to setup activator ... need to sleep ... my wife is going to be pissed if she knows that I stayed up till 4 AM heh heh heh ... then I'll really be in jail heh heh heh. QUOTE(DE.si.MON @ Jan 21 2012, 09:22 AM) 5-7min that is very slow... Is it downloading the ipsw? Maybe there is workaround and can do offline, like greenpois0n last time. It is using the backup and restore exploit. The first time the hackers are doing it. That is why it takes a team effort for them to find the injection vector. Bloody damn complicated.

QUOTE(vassilius @ Jan 21 2012, 09:55 AM) My guess is that the hackers tricked the 4s and iPad 2 on the backup & restore process and actually used that process to inject the corona exploit. I read it in iClarified I think. Pretty awesome what these people are doing. Need to go to Paypal and donate to the dream team. Here's a quote from Pod2g QUOTE Pod2g has revealed that the new iPhone 4S and iPad 2 jailbreak tool developed by the Chronic Dev Team is called Absinthe.
A tool named Absinthe and developed by the Chronic Dev Team will install the untether on your device. Also the iPhone Dev Team will release a CLI (command line) tool to help diagnose issues and repair things if it goes wrong.
This is a little scary I know, but the chance you break something is really small, since we made lots of tests to verify the process on different devices. But it is the first time we use the backup / restore functions of iTunes to install software, and there are maybe things we are not aware of. Jailbroken my iPad 2 heh heh heh ... easy as pie. Absinthe is really stable. Just make sure for the 4s and the iPad 2 you download the latest version (there's 2 version, the old one is not very stable).

Installing a Hackintosh probably will take longer than waiting for the Windows version Absinthe to come out.

QUOTE(DE.si.MON @ Jan 21 2012, 12:51 PM) If the exploit use backup and restore method, then the time to finish the jailbreak depends on how many data to backup and restore. Better do it kosong and make sure the device has sufficient storage space. I suspect that's why my JB for the 4s and iPad 2 was fast. For the 4s, I restored the iPhone and for the iPad 2 I upgraded the iPad 2 from 4.3.3 to 5.0.1 which means it was kosong to start with. Funny enough Cydia was superfast since early this morning. I haven't had any issues with Cydia crawling.

QUOTE(scyap @ Jan 21 2012, 02:48 PM) Yeah your 5-7min is super fast... my 32GB iPad took like 20-30min, I was afraid it was stuck some more... If this is the case then I strongly recommend restoring your iPhone 4s first (clean restore) which would require you to download the firmware files from Apple and doing the Shift + Restore before embarking on the Absinthe jailbreak. A huge restore file would take a long time to jailbreak as the exploit the dream team is using is via the backup/restore injection vector. Added on January 21, 2012, 7:54 pmQUOTE(Superman7 @ Jan 21 2012, 02:50 PM) it took me approximately 5 mins on my iPad 2 32GB. My iPad 2 was super fast as well but that was because I had to upgrade the iPad 2 to 5.0.1 from 4.3.3 and it was really kosong as I set it up as a new iPad 2, jailbreak and then restore the backup. My Apps were not synced though so had to manually synced them after the backup restore. This post has been edited by azraeil: Jan 21 2012, 07:54 PM

Anyone berani to cuba the Command Line Interface CLI? Version 0.43 is compatible with Windows Taken from one of the posters from dev-team blog QUOTE First time use CMD?
Let´s go.
First, ensure the compatible Firmwares: iPhone4S: 5.0 (9A334), 5.0.1 (9A405) and the “other” 5.0.1 (9A406) iPad2: 5.0.1 (9A405) <--- ONLY WIFI, NOT 3G
Download, version 0.4.3, Read post 3.
Unzip files into root dir, like C:
1. Press, in your keyboard WINDOWS+R (Run windows) and type: "CMD" (Without quotes), and press ENTER 2. On windows is open (BLACK WINDOWS) type the commands withouts quotes: "CD .." 3. "cd cinject_0.4.3" 4. Now your machine will stay that way: (C:\cinject_0.4.3>) <-- DO NOT TYPE THIS 5. Run first command withou quotes: (Submit by CAPSLOCKON) a. "cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig" - IMPORTANT. On device, accept the script, and next next finish (without password) 6. "cinject.exe -j payloads" - IMPORTANT. Wait the backup. Sugest try with blank A5 device. 7. "cinject.exe -w" 8. Try to start Absithe, if you get error database, go to setting and turn on VPN and try again
Good luck
