tq bro one more thing which concern me b4 i jb i already backup in iTunes n after JB i connect to iTunes n my iTunes setting auto sync to backup when connect with iphone.i need to know now the backup one in itunes is pre Jb of afta JB one?if after Jb so now i lost the non JB backup?if i restore it will restore from after JB backup?isnt it?

Oh well I thought if you upgraded an iPhones firmware while it was jailbroken, you would lose around 500MB of space permanently. Does it only apply to older firmware or something?

Nah he doesn't need to stay on 5.0. I'm not familiar with corona as well so I don't wanna risk anything.

I just need to know, if he clicks on restore and upgrade in iTunes, will he lose 500mb of space? And will he be able to restore his previous settings and data?

1. Restore and upgrade in iTunes.
2. Once iOS 5.0.1 is installed, jailbreak using redsnow using the iclarified guide.
3. Restore settings by right clicking in iTunes and selecting restore from backup.

Does that enable my friend to have a untethered iOS 5.0.1 JB with all his old settings intact?

The 3Gs reboot loop has been reported many times by members here. Have you tried restoring the 3Gs (wipe clean using the Shift + restore method) and then NOT jailbreaking it yet for a couple of days and observe the behaviour?

Some people say that restoring the backup may also be the cause as some of the old settings may be causing the crash. You can try that as well (not restoring your backup for a couple of days and observing the behaviour)

now had back to clean restore 5.0.1.. everything work find again...call receive call n call out..
just that i wonder if i jailbreak again.. will this problem come back again? is this only effect on the MCxxxLL version only.. whereby MCxxxMY local set no effect?

I don't think the LL or MY makes any difference. It's obvious that you are you are on a factory unlocked unit so the serial makes no difference.

Try the jailbreak again via redsn0w (0.9.10b5c) and do not restore your backup and see ...

No. if it is working fine, there is no need to re-jailbreak.

Hey guys ! new to jailbreak and tweaks. That day i was at celcom. And was checking out the iPhone 4S on display. It had a cool function on the screen. whereby you need not press the home button anymore to go to the home screen. Just touch on home on the screen and it will bring u to the home screen. I am trying to find that. Help needed. thanks.

Depend on the baseband. but for my own experience, it not worth to get a lock set.

why not worth buying locked set?
because we can't instantly upgrade to latest IOS?

locked set iphone 4 usually sold for only 1k at the garage sales

You will have warranty any upgrading issues.
If the baseband is lower than 4.10, you still can unlock it using gevey.
Those with 4.11 baseband cannot be unlocked at the moment. You only can use it as an ipod.
