I am not familiar with ac1dsn0w. It's the Linux version right?

You may want to try redsn0w as that is the more established tool.

ac1dsn0w was the only jailbreak tool on mac to jailbreak ios 5.0.1. I just don't know whether i should stack two jailbreak together and use redsnow on my already jailbreak-ed iphone.

That should be okay. If the backup file is small (new iPhone etc) then it will be faster. My advice for a clean wipe was if your backup file is big, then it will take forever to jailbreak.

Added on February 19, 2012, 3:26 pmNo. Acidsnow uses codes from redsnow. Redsnow is the one officially supported by the dev-team. There is also Pwnagetool which is a Mac only tool which is also supported by the dev-team.

hello... i`m helping my fren updating ios 4.1 to ios 5.0.1 using shift restore (ip 3gs).. i activate it by jailbreak using redsnow 0.910b4.. after complete all the process, suddenly the iphone keep searching for the line.. iccd said no sim.. modem firmware 06.15.00.. help me pls..

Hi, I jb my 4s using absinthe v3. And recently my 4s become lagging, it happen when I "slide to unlock", and the sound effect after unlock (when home screen opened) will repeat like 4-5 times.
Another more serious problem is my iMessage cannot send picture. I can receive picture from others through iMessage, but when I send, it shows "Delivered", but my friend did not get the picture, normal message is ok.
Anyone having the same problem like me?

Why in the world did you friend used an iPad baseband on a celcom set? Are you sure it's a celcom set instead of using a celcom sim with an iPhone bought from those vendors in sg. Wang or something? Because it's using an iPad baseband which tells me it's a locked set. Anyway, if it is jailbroken and can access Cydia, just open Cydia and search for ultrasn0w and install it.

When u done download and install some apps in cydia, Some hidden apps like adsheet, ios diagnostic, sbsettings etc. appear on your homescreen? everytime i mz respring to make them gone and i have to rearrange my icons back to the order that i want,kinda annoying for me. Is there a way to fix this bug? Thanks.

My friend is on an iPhone 4 iOS 5.0 and he did a tethered jailbreak. Now I know he should upgrade to 5.0.1 and then jailbreak to get the untethered one. But I also know if you upgrade to 5.0.1 from iTunes you lose 500mb of space. So I told him to restore and setup as a new phone first, and then jailbreak again.

But he says when he clicks on restore in iTunes, the only option is "Cancel" or "Restore and upgrade iOS". Is this the correct method? Will he lose any space?

P/S: The pre-JB backup will still be usable right? I don't want him to lose all his data.

If he restore, he can only upgrade to 5.0.1. There is no way to restore to 5.0 as Apple no longer signs the firmware version.

I can't remember if Corona will work on 5.0 but to make your tethered jailbreak to be untethered on 5.0.1 before, it was just a matter of installing Corona from Cydia. Your friend can try that first to see if that will work. If it doesn't then he will need to upgrade to 5.0.1

Nah he doesn't need to stay on 5.0. I'm not familiar with corona as well so I don't wanna risk anything.

1. Restore and upgrade in iTunes.
2. Once iOS 5.0.1 is installed, jailbreak using redsnow using the iclarified guide.
3. Restore settings by right clicking in iTunes and selecting restore from backup.

Does that enable my friend to have a untethered iOS 5.0.1 JB with all his old settings intact?

I'm not sure why he should lose 500MB of space in the first place. He just need to upgrade, jailbreak via redsn0w and restore his backup or whichever way he likes (restore backup and then jailbreak)

tq bro one more thing which concern me b4 i jb i already backup in iTunes n after JB i connect to iTunes n my iTunes setting auto sync to backup when connect with iphone.i need to know now the backup one in itunes is pre Jb of afta JB one?if after Jb so now i lost the non JB backup?if i restore it will restore from after JB backup?isnt it?

Oh well I thought if you upgraded an iPhones firmware while it was jailbroken, you would lose around 500MB of space permanently. Does it only apply to older firmware or something?

Is there any tweak that initiates phone call recording the instant the call is answered? Just curious.
