yes, i have the same issue as well. not sure why also.

just now, i boost to 50mb for 2 hours (the duration already become 2/8/20 hours), then i clicked refresh on the page, it becomes 4 hours! rclxub.gif really weird.

anyway, my download speed never go up, so i did a speed test and still show 8mb. called to the support, they told system issue, although clicked boost, it will not take effect, will be fixed by first week of april. i asked, can i get back the 4 hours since it never really take effect. the support told me will feedback and the technician will get in touch with me later.

hope it really get it fixed by then.

Hi Bro,

Please try to ping 8.8.8.8 . If you got response meaning your line is ok, could be router problem or software prob. Try use another PC/Laptop to test.
If not, try login to your Router check the Status & see whether yr line is actively connected.

Is PON light on ? PON should be ON & LOS shld b OFF.

If still having prob, after the above test, try bypass the router. PM me if you need help.

Thanks.

Bro jjj2,

I'd to add some further knowledge for those who are interested, the modern L2 switches which ISPs used for servicing high speed broadband today installed at apartment floors are actually switches with built in GPON/EPON ONUs for WAN access.

By terminating the ONU with an integrated L2 switch, the ISP saves the cost of having to install a ONU in every subscriber's home and that's substantial cost savings. Apart from that, having an active switch serving like 8 customers per floor with a single ONU termination results in further power consumption savings as well. In fact, subscribers can save on providing an extra power socket for an ONU, with the centralized active switch taking care of that with power provided by building management.

With this, copper cabling can be shortened to very short lengths till the termination point of each home unit.

China ISPs are implementing this cost effective FTTB method in most modern apartments and they use the GPON/EPON as backhaul feeding L2 switches/VDSL2 switches than they do for FTTP(user premise termination).

Also the biggest advantage to passive networks has always been its power saving advantage that puts away the need for active ports but with Google's latest Fibre pilot project in Kansas City, it is known now that Point to Point(PtP) networks can still be achieved through modern WDM techniques.
Meaning WDM Passive optical networks can have the best of both worlds by having the PON power savings advantage and also at the same time enjoy the benefits of dedicated PtP  speeds.

The current ODN architecture which most ISPs build today including Time and Singaporean ones are already considered dated. The Google model, have dedicated PtP fibre which runs all the way from the exchange to every home. WDM splitters are installed just next to the OLT.

1 thing to be sure: the ODN architecture allows streaming of media without occupying user subscribing bandwidth. They divided multicast and your internet connection into different VLAN. I can assure you the Google TV box is using part of 1Gbps bandwidth.

Cheers

P/S : Your package is Astro IPTV right ? Do you experience pixellation while watching Astro HD channels ?

Hi jjj2,

Need some advice.

I'm using Astro IPTV and experiencing the pixel noise issue that you mentioned. Is this Astro or Time issue?
This happened since the installation, the installation guy told me the problem will disappear after a few weeks, but after a few months, still getting the same issue. It happens randomly.

I'm also getting high % of packet loss since last week.
Done 3 ping tests using KL servers and all showing high packet loss.
Download speed is ok, but getting lag when playing online game.

I'm staying in a condo in Damansara.

Thanks.

Hi Bro smile.gif

First please launch a complaint to Astro at 03 9543 1543.

Both side also possible to cause such problem.

Astro Decoder could cause such pixellation problem as well as the ONU (aka Fibre Modem).

A not properly done fibre connector would be also causing this. The joint at the Splitter / FTB could be causing this as well.
More serious stage would be caused by the OLT which serves your area. If this is the case it will not only affect your unit, your neighbours will be having problems as well.

What the Installer told you is not true smile.gif

I can confirm to say that your line quality (not speed) is bad. There are few tests you could perform. Feel free to check my PM ya smile.gif

Hi Bro,

Thanks for sharing.

Yes the current VLANs configuration is segregating the Internet bandwidth from the Multicast Streaming. This is performed via the ONU.

Hi bro, yup the new Boost Hours is different than the last time.

Confirmed the current Boost feature is having some glitches. TIME technical expertise are currently fixing this issue.

It'll be back to normal real soon.

Any one having problem downloading The Star epaper? The download is very slow.
There is nothing wrong with the App as download from UniFi is very fast.

It takes >5 minutes to download from Time (Astro IPTV) vs a about a minute on Unifi.

Speedtest seems to be OK too.

My router problem or Time problem?

BTW It was still ok last weekend.

I am from Penang, what area of server you are referring to?

Singapore servers get good ping than TMnet while US/EU may differ.

Tested last night and this morning. It is very slow to download the star epaper.

I suspect some sites are ok but others are not. How to check this?

I hope the ping is about 20-50ms for SG servers. I don't usually play US servers, but Maxis is horrible. I can't play SEA SC2 because my ping in always above 100ms.

I always play CS, CS:Source and CS:GO at SG servers. The ping time is good.

I will show you with screenshot tonight.

What kind of speeds and pings do you get from US servers?
