What do you mean by "successful"? I've got no problem connecting to netflix via VPN using unifi. Or do you mean streaming TM's hypo tv channels through ATV?

QUOTE(krayz_underground @ Jan 6 2012, 06:21 PM) Depending on what you want to do with it .. you can stream movies from your Mac through itunes to the AppleTV. If you want to subscribe to online streaming services in the US, yes, you need either VPN or a mechanism such as unblock-us.com .. |

QUOTE(zain7478 @ Jan 6 2012, 09:20 PM) thanks for replying, i just want to watch the malaysian usual tv channels, tv1 etc on my apple tv, any help is highly appreciated - port, config etc.... cheers! Sad to say, no you can't use appletv to watch those channels streamed by Unifi's IPTV. Read more about it here:http://unifi.athena.my/iptv_information.php Added on January 7, 2012, 9:44 am QUOTE(krayz_underground @ Jan 6 2012, 10:04 PM) So basically if I do not have VPN or other mechanism I can only stream movie to the apple TV and watch it from my TV, thats all? Yup, it works just like those media players sold here:http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...62384&hl=player Just that, without jailbreaking it, you can only stream movies through itunes. There are few other services offered which are free like youtube etc. which I've never try them. This post has been edited by wiraone: Jan 7 2012, 09:44 AM |

QUOTE(aceedburn @ Jan 14 2012, 09:09 PM) I guess you've the Apple TV 1st generation instead of the new black box. The black box is not as powerful as the old AppleTV and I couldn't find those media streaming service from my XBMC list. |

Astro won't sue Apple since Apple only allows few streaming services, mostly US based one. If Apple decided to go local, they probably will ask Astro to develop an app, just like those Netflix, Hulu etc. that run on the AppleTV.

QUOTE(olivur @ Jan 17 2012, 05:22 PM) his view on human behavior is brilliant, yet he chooses to convey it in a really crude manner I'm not using unblock-us .. Am using a dedicated AP which has VPN activated.also Netflix works for you on your iPad? did you set it according to unblock-us' settings or using your other* modem? because it hasn't been working for me off late . QUOTE(FieldEngineer @ Jan 30 2012, 02:17 PM) Ok thanks man. Could you provide me any URL to a website or Youtube for the good jailbreak tutorial? There are quite a number of guides out there, search for 'firecore seas0npass' on google and you'll get what you wanted To JB, make sure you've the AppleTV connected via micro-USB and it shouldn't be connected to A/C power. The rest of the guide can be found in firecore's website. There is easier method to install XBMC but you need to pay for it.. to install XBMC through ssh, here is the guide: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW-T...C_on_Apple_TV_2 |

Just wondering if the topic starter is still active, probably we could do a first page FAQ and guides on how to install xbmc, navi-x, or on how to subscribe to the streaming services.
Added on January 31, 2012, 8:33 amor probably acidburn can do at his thread instead? This post has been edited by wiraone: Jan 31 2012, 08:33 AM |

QUOTE(aceedburn @ Jan 31 2012, 11:08 AM) don't think so bro, as jailbreaking is considered "piracy" and the thread will get deleted by the admins. Unless there'sa private forum, we can probably only discuss these things via pm. Jailbreaking is no longer considered as piracy, there are one thread each in iphone, ipad and ipod sub-forums. I believe admins are okay with this. There is no piracy discussion anyway on AppleTV since no commercial applications are allowed on it. |

QUOTE(FieldEngineer @ Jan 31 2012, 09:42 PM) Two ways: 1) I believe XBMC can play avi and mkv (haven't test this), if yes, you can mount your iMac filesystem from xbmc. Activate file sharing and use the guide here to get afp running on apple tv2: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=109723 2) Stream it, use Plex or vlc, guide to install plex media server can be found here: http://www.jailbreakmatrix.com/iphone-ipad...id-and-720p-mkv This post has been edited by wiraone: Jan 31 2012, 09:53 PM |
