LoL dont bother, you can kena katok if you can find people want to sell ATV2 with an old chipset that can only play 720p .

With ATV3 you can also airplay XBMC with your Ipad, Iphone or mac to the HDTV and play 1080p content via ITunes from PC/MAC/Idevices.


XMBC's source is streaming GI Joe Retaliation 2013 in 720p via my Iphone 5 airplaying to my HDTV & 5.1ch sound to my AVR

yes, but you have to login with US account and change to US dns. Easy only.

Only thing Netflix just free for 30 days trial.

If you have XBMC, you dont need netflix coz most of the movies and series are old.

I like daily flix, it has many latest HD movies

You can but no netflix, hulu, spotify, pandora and other us services on the home screen.

netflix can be installed.
xbmc cannot be installed, need to be airplayed via i-device

apple tv can airplay (transmit wirelessly) to your TV, you can play movie and music from windows PC too via itunes
for mac and idevice, you can display everything including the screen of your iphone, ipad or mac to your TV.

if you installed xmbc on your idevice you can watch it on your TV too without any cable

install xbmc in your iphone/ipad/mac and airplay to atv3

i thought airplay will mirror everything on the idevice's screen

I found out that the best streaming movie to apple Tv via airplay is using itunes. even via windows desktop.

Since i kesian to leave my macbook on 24hours to torrent and salvaging its storage space for movies, i use my old window desktop to do all these dirty job since it has few old hard disks fitted. (but running out of space now)

And to my surprise this old low specs (dualcore 2GB Ram) windows desktop can stream 1080p movies in mp4 to my HDTV without stutter, no cinavia disturbance. (my old desktop connected via wifi dongle btw)

Only thing the movies must be itune friendly format like mp4, but we are lucky many 1080p movies at our "favorite bay area" are in mp4 as many as mkvs.


That said XBMC is the least application that i care to open these days.

You need the boxee box for that right? So that's why they dont allow using your mac / win desktop.

By the way, i saw on your ipad that After Earth has DD5.1, can you actually get that via airplay?


XBMC via airplay can only get 3.1 i need to connect thunderbolt cable to hdmi to get 5.1/7.1.

1. Netflix's shows all last season series. What a waste.

2. I like to watch lesbian movies on Netflix coz all uncensored

3. Netflix just only get SuperHD launched on sept 2013 and they listed only certain ISP can get it. That super Hd is 1080p so big deal.

And i dont think our ISP like maxis or unifi or astro can get this.

Can your ATV2 play 1080p movie from dailyflix? or 1080p mkv from your NAS (if you use XBMC to play)?

Yeah i searched a bit in mac forums that ATV2 plays 1080p files just fine but it always output it at 720p max.

XBMC can play 4K file too but do you think that the output really 4K on your 1080p TV?

Change your itunes country to USA in the account setup

You can mirror and extended display to ATV3

Control macMini from upstairs

option 1. Apple wireless keyboard 30 feet range - u can try

option 2. Install splashtop on your macmini and control it using your iphone/ipad from upstairs

never tried plex but XBMC with 1080p no problem streaming except 5.1 sound will be just 3.1
