After some hesitation, I finally bought a Fitbit a few weeks ago. For those who're not aware of what it is, have a look at the Fitbit website and browse around. To summarize though, the Fitbit is a device that can track your activity throughout the day, providing you with a breakdown of your sedentary vs. active times, how many steps/stairs you took all day, sleep records, etc.

I've been very happy with the Fitbit. The biggest eye opener for me is how good I am at going up stairs rather than taking the elevator biggrin.gif On a typical workday I go up 30-40 floors. The sleep tracker is also very interesting, my sleep efficiency seems to be very high but I don't get enough sleep, averaging less than 6 hours every night sad.gif The challenge now is to be more active at work, walk more, not sit down too much. The Fitbit lets me track this, on top of the regular workouts I already do.

Biggest cons for the Fitbit (aside from the US$99 price) is the food log which sucks big time. Very western oriented and not very comprehensive even then. The good news is that Fitbit is integrating with MyFitnessPal soon which has far better food tracking including the typical malaysian fare.

Anyone else have questions please feel free to post here. I'm not selling anything, just a happy user biggrin.gif

Yep the sleep tracking is the most interesting part IMO, I wanted to go for the Jawbone Up device which is similar but has better sleep tracking. Unfortunately Jawbone pulled the Up from the market due to parts failures so I'll get it next time around when it's available again.

peh, will PM you as well. I got mine in the US, going again this weekend so if anyone wants to do a group buy of the Fitbit please PM me separately. It will be around RM360 (Fitbit + small fee). I can probably arrange a quick TT so that you can see what you're getting and how the Fitbit really works, what it tracks, how it integrates into MyFitnesspal etc.

Anyone interested like I said please post here or PM.

I was interested to get the fitbit flex when its available in spring 2013. one concern is if i'm cycling, and the fitbit flex(which is quite similar to nike fuelband-wear in wrist) how it will track my cycling movement?

the fitbit flex is cool and convenient (the one is very easy to misplace which i almost did), but it loses the stairs tracking functionality and also the led screen... everything needs to be viewed either from the website or the mobile app sad.gif

I think the flex is not as flexible as the one.. and lacks some functionality - ie. lcd screen and stairs. The lcd screen is very useful to up your tempo during the day when u see your latest stats..

If anyone interested i have one last fitbit one for sale - brand new sealed. Just PM me for best price

Main question, how much does it cost?

If it's too pricey, a little not worth it laugh.gif

Was thinking to get a Nike Fuelband anyways.

the fitbit flex has been released in the US! although only exclusive to Best Buy for now. however early reviews don't seem very positive:

And what taxes is that for?

Fitbit is not alcohol, nor tabacco, nor perfume, fragrances or electronic.

It's just a fancy wristband in our custom's eye.

It's been working great so far.
Battery easily last 7 days. I've had it for 15 days now and only charged twice (1st when I got it and 2nd charge 3 days ago).
Have to note that I am a light user. No special recording activities most of the days but with nightly recording.

I just received my Flex from Amazon. Used Amazon priority delivery as it takes them 2-4 days, sent using DHL so no worry about tracking. Total USD 130 which converts to RM 450.

Hello Guys..I got my Fitbit 4 months ago from LA, and very keen to get to know other fitbit users.. To date, I've lost 9 KGs from the day I started using it. The best part is I could sync it with Endomondo, MyFitnessPal and many more (32 compatible apps).Downloaded Fitbit App using a US account. I still remember I can barely run a distance of 3KM, now i can go 10KM++ easily in a single run.

Recharge every 5-7 days. It's a solid state device, no movable parts - should be long lasting

Reviews are looking good on this fella.

If only they had announced it earlier, I wouldn't have gotten the Flex.

My only concern is that the rubber strap wears off and since the new Force band is not replaceable, that would mean a very ugly worn out band. The current Flex band is replaceable albeit slightly costly.

Here's mine after using it close to 2 months. You can see the edge of the band are of a lighter shade.

Thanks for sharing. Hopefully the Force's material not same as Flex. The good thing is the dirt won't accumulate like in Flex.

Judging from the comparison pics, it seems similar.

Oh, it does? So far so good for me. And I'll bring it to the gym as well.

Only if I wash the insides of the band, the vapour will appear.

After awhile, it'll just go off by itself.

hi,
can i ask some opinion from fitbit users? especially fitbit flex and fitbit force?

i am an avid participant to classes like Les Mills BodyCombat, an high impact cardio dance/martial arts combo sort off. i been looking at activity tracker that is waterproof and on the wrist that can wear and forget, so far the fitbit and nike+ SE looks nice but nike is quite off the budget.

would you say that the fitbit flex/force could at least track 75% accurately on calories burn on classes like bodycombat? or fast pace excercise like star jumps?

not really. for those activities you should get an HRM as the fitbits cant really tell the intensity of your workouts. where as an HRM can calculate the calorie burn according to your heartrate and what not.

hi all!

yup me too having a sedentary lifestyle for the previous years, only seldom doing sports activities.

but after having the force, it really change my lifestyle indeed.

my review and ratings after 1 months of ownership:
-build quality is excellent. although stated as water-resist, i dare not to use it while showering. 9.5/10
-battery life is excellent. 7-10 days. charge using USB cable provided. 9.9/10
-screen display is nice to see, especially in the dark. info is enough to help me aware of my daily target. 9.7/10
-syncing with computer is superb! using the provided USB dongle, it always sync automatically whenever i sit near to the computer (as i don't have any smartphone yet!). 9.8/10
-every person that see me wearing will surely ask "is that a watch or what?" and i'm happily explain to them as this stuff really make you concern about living healthy lifestyle.

as i bought it during the black friday offer last december, i get it much much less than what others selling it here in LYN. =)

as of the tagline in its google+ site, "every bit is getting FIT!" and i'm loving it every BIT!

not directly, if you intend to buy online, you buy through ebay/amazon seller.
Alternatively - knwong sells them here locally.

I have bought 2 units from him for myself and 2 more for a friend.

I believe that some of the users didn't take off their bands while they are sweating/showering/sleeping and there was build up of grime/dirt/sweat.

My personal practice is to wipe it with a wet tissue every night before I go to sleep and remove the Flex (not applicable for Force users) and wash it down with soap to ensure it's squeaky clean. biggrin.gif

Anywho, add me up at adrienmkl@yahoo.com

It retails for 100usd. If you factor in shipping it should be close to the RM400 mark.

Is it a local store? If yes, you will get the benefit of going back to them for aftersales support.

I have the Flex, but the rubber around the plastic display is starting to come apart, perhaps due to the those frequent removal of the docket to charge it.

I saw Radio Shack Times Square selling Fitbit and Jawbone UP as well. I suppose their Midvalley store should carry them. Can't remember the price but quite pricey though you do get store support.

I think Lazada has no store support.

Don't bother since the Force is being recalled by FItbit, so there may not be support for it after that.

I like Fitbit (have a Flex myself) but reading the Fitbit forums, the customer support is terrible.

I seriously hope they sort it out soon since Samsung, Sony, LG, Razer etc are all going to release their own.

Force is being recalled but I have confirmed that they will be support as the new generation fitbit will be similar to force.

warranty still covers throughout the 1 year period however they cant replace force for another force if the tracker device have defects most probably they will refund / give you a new fitbit that will be release soon biggrin.gif

LOL.. The difference is just force has time on it unlike flex. right?
Im sure it will be months or maybe years to wait for the new version of force to launch.

Just bought my flex, so far already sync it with Myfitnesspal and Endomondo.

Use it for a couple of days, so far the experience has been pretty satisfied.

So how do you guys found the reading, is it accurate enough?

Fitbit expands sync compatibility, now includes 44 devices
QUOTE
18 new devices added in latest update

Fitbit has expanded the sync capabilities of their wearable fitness trackers, and now 44 Android and iOS devices are fully supported. Devices that can wirelessly synchronize with Fitbit products require Bluetooth 4.0 on-board, but in the past even devices with the required hardware we not officially supported, and users were forced to try a reverse-engineering approach to get sync up and running. With today's news, that should no longer be an issue for folks with recent Android phones.

In addition to the new devices — we've got the full list below — Fitbit was pretty pumped to announce that their app will come pre-installed on the new HTC One (M8). This should expose more people to their products, which leads to more sales and happy customers.

Here's your new list of supported Android devices:
  • Samsung Galaxy S3
  • Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini
  • Samsung Galaxy S4
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 Active
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 2
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
  • LG G2
  • LG G Flex
  • LG G Pro 2
  • LG Vu 3
  • HTC One (M7)
  • HTC One (M8)
  • Motorola Moto X
  • Motorola Moto G
  • Motorola RAZR M
  • Motorola DROID MINI
  • Motorola DROID ULTRA
  • Motorola DROID MAXX
  • Motorola DROID RAZR HD
  • Motorola DROID RAZR HD MAXX
  • Google Nexus 4
  • Google Nexus 5
  • Google Nexus 7 (2013)
  • Sony Xperia SP
  • Sony Xperia T

hi. i have one lifetrak fit c400 for sale. basically, it has same function as fitbit. can be used to track calories burned, heart rate and walking/run distance. just that it is not available in Malaysia. bought in US. so, if anyone of u interested, let me know. give u 3months personal warranty, as the watch under US warranty only, not international warranty. can be sync to iphone, using Argus app. can be downloaded from itunes app store. the watch band is reversible, black/blue.

I just both one in Hulala but unfortunately the package did not include the wireless sync dongle. I'm filing a complaint to them.

The first thing i receive, I have a little doubt on the quality of the Wristband, its look like China product. But still, wearing it for few days. Not bad!

Hi, hopefully it is not too late to tell and any other owners for FitBit this. You can actually e-mail the FitBit team via their website and request for a replacement band. They would require photo proof of the wear and tear but otherwise, the process is fairly straightforward.

The only drawback is that they only ship to a certain countries (US, Europe, Aus, NZ) so that might be an issue.. I was lucky enough for them to waive that requirement and shipped it directly to me in Malaysia tongue.gif

Hello All -

I am fitbit user too, and yes, it changes my lifestyle. I'm using Android to monitor my track.

In fitbit Android App, we can monitor "very active minutes", and "calories burnt".
I'm just wondering how fitbit count "very active minutes", and "calories burnt". Anybody can share the thoughts on this?

Appreciate your thoughts on this,

Thanks,

Cheers,

yup I've seen Fitbit - and also Jawbone and others - in sale at Radio Shack. The store I went to was Times Square. I also remembered Groupon recently having an offer for Fitbit Flex. Not sure if it's still on.

Was reading up about the Flex and UP by Jawbone. Cannot decide between the two, still considering my options.

Conducted my own research and read that the 'readings' are more generous with the Flex, in another word, not very accurate as compared to the UP. Not sure about this, still want to hear feedbacks from the users here.

Thanks smile.gif

When I was buying in the Apple store in UK, the sales man told me that he receives more complaints for Jawbone up instead of Fitbit Flex.
Some more with fitbit, you get the cheaper one with the same functionalities. Hence, that's why I fall in love with Fitbit Flex.

Hope it helps,

Hi, thanks for the input. Yeah I agree on the value to pricing there. The Flex has Bluetooth while the UP doesn't. What about the tracking accuracy? How do you find it? smile.gif

There is Jawbone up 24, it's with blue tooth. But it's much more expensive.
I have no issue so far with my Flex.

Accuracy is not really an issue since it's "relative". Furthermore most of the inaccuracies in these wearables is due to each of our cadence and step length - and Fitbit does allow you to configure that (to improve accuracy).

I wear the Fitbit when I run - and in running, you do know your cadence ie how many steps per minute and also the distance. So it's easy for me to check Fitbit's accuracy and surprisingly I find Fitbit underreporting my distance ie I would have ran 10K and it's showing steps for 8K.

Doesn't really bother me since I'm continuously measuring my progress (or decline) on the "same device" so any over- or under-reporting is cancelled out.

Fitbit to me, still stands out as one of the best brand for this type of wearables.

I agree with this though if it's not accurate, but since we're measuring with the same wearable so that I can still track my exercise.

to those who want to buy fitbit, dont bother with it

got mine from singapore 3 weeks ago, wear it all the time except shower

after 3 months, charging got problem. need to use alcohol to clean it. use toothpick to clean

clean d can charge for a couple of more times, then back to cannot charge again . need to clean again .

seriously, it is an activity tracker. of course i wear it for biking and running

wanna tell me dirt accumulated at charging terminals cannot be avoided due to activity? i'll said its POS. get ur product to work more effectively and not expect user to clean it with alcohol on a weekly basis ...

gave mine to my nephew and even he start telling me it cannot charge anymore. and he doesnt even run or go for sports !!

got mine from singapore 3 weeks ago, wear it all the time except shower

after 3 months, charging got problem. need to use alcohol to clean it. use toothpick to clean

clean d can charge for a couple of more times, then back to cannot charge again . need to clean again .

seriously, it is an activity tracker. of course i wear it for biking and running

wanna tell me dirt accumulated at charging terminals cannot be avoided due to activity? i'll said its POS. get ur product to work more effectively and not expect user to clean it with alcohol on a weekly basis ...

gave mine to my nephew and even he start telling me it cannot charge anymore. and he doesnt even run or go for sports !!

I received my fitbit surge last week delivered from US, and i am very satisfy with it. (previously i am wearing 1st generation of Fitbit Ultra, always fitbit lover)

overall is good, touch screen function perfectly, heart rate & GPS tracking is accurate. I really happy with it.

Amazon is a collection of vendors with Amazon themselves being one of the biggest vendor. Some vendors ship internationally, many don't. Amazon ships internationally for some products, but many others can't be shipped to Malaysia.

To answer your question, when you're searching make sure you check the option to ship internationally or ship to Malaysia, that way you only see the vendors that ship to Malaysia. You need to be signed in to your account, and your default shipping address must be in Malaysia.

Or you could use a 3rd party service like Comgateway or Vpost to ship it back to Malaysia (from their U.S address).

Letting go my Fitbit Flex as planning to upgrade to a Charge.

Sorry princess, a bit late. I placed some orders already although I skipped the Fitbit Charge HR and am planning to go for the Jawbone Up3 instead although it's realistically only going to be out sometime in May/June...

The Fitbit Charge HR is also sold out in many places right now, so people are selling it for $200 instead of the standard $150...

Radioshack at Midvalley, Fitbit One at RM408. It's USD99 in US, so you can use the effective rate of 4.12 to estimate the prices for the others.

BTW - How do I join the Fitbit Malaysia group?

Some more with fitbit, you get the cheaper one with the same functionalities. Hence, that's why I fall in love with Fitbit Flex.

Hope it helps,

Thanks,

QUOTE(jack208 @ Aug 14 2014, 11:08 AM)

So is the fitbit really that bad? I would like my running, walking and sleeping to be tracked. Is Fitbit for me? I don't the jawbone series because the gadget doesn't wrap around my wrist like how the Fitbit does.

Hey guys. New fitbit flex user here. I got a fitbit flex as a gift from one of my friend. I just stared 2 days ago. I read thru some review and it's stated that it's waterproof but not recommended for swimming or diving.

Thing is i went fishing yesterday and after fishing, it stopped working. I remember during lunch synced with my phone and i did about 6000 steps already. But i couldn't sync after that. I thought maybe the battery died.

Then i tried charging it but it couldn't turn on. I then dumped the tracker into a bowl of rice, hoping the rice could soak the tracker dry. This afternoon i charged it and voila it synced with my phone again.

But i realised it stopped tracking yesterday at 6000+. Problem now is everytime it syncs, it'll go back to 0. I guess the chip inside must've broken. Any idea if this is covered by warranty?

Just fyi, i didnt went swimming during fishing. I merely washed my hands only. But i sweat alot.

some people shower with the flex with no problem. it should be covered under warranty as it was used as designed. just give them a call to confirm.

Just change the unit at Advanced Setting to kg.

st = Stone. lbs = Pounds. Those are other metrics for weight used by the westerns

U can search the seller in this forum

His price is ok

One of his customers managed to get free replacement for broken fitbit

Actually if u buy direct from fitbit, they will replace it for free if it is broken or died

U can search the seller in this forum

His price is ok

One of his customers managed to get free replacement for broken fitbit

Actually if u buy direct from fitbit, they will replace it for free if it is broken or died
*
i just left the message in their fb.
apparently they do not sell online in malaysia.

even if i want to get the XL size (exclusive online only)

Guys, I bought a brand new Fitbit Charge HR black and selected the small option because my wrists are not very huge.

No I'm realizing that the band even for me is too small, I can use it but it should have been a few holes bigger for my liking. So now I'm wondering if I can make anyone happy with it or if someone with a Charge HR large is actually looking for a small one than I don't mind trading. As long as it isn't damaged.

If you have a damaged Charge HR large than you can't get warranty for anymore I don't mind buying it from you so I can replace my band.

Send me a PM to get it touch.

Thanks guys!

Hi guys. Any idea where can I find a replacement charger for fitbit charge hr? Everything on lazada ships from overseas. Found on Harvey Norman site but it's at Rm95. A tag bit overpriced for a USB cable IMHO.

Shall I wait for the blaze to release or get surge directly?

I am more on gym, yoga, park jogging, body pump and treadmills.

Just curious why blaze a color screen band cheaper than surge. But blaze sound like more to 2016 product lol.

What kind of sports you do usually? Does it work out accurately in term of calories burn, HR Rates, Step and so on?

Other than jogging, sports like class in gym, yoga, body pump and so on, have you tried it out yet? Accuracy of heart rates?

If use for gps (10k) daily then need to charge every alternate day

The app is simple and intuitive, but not as many data collected compare to garmin if u r an avid runner.

But a very bad review on vivo smart hr.

HR sensor not accurate. I.prefer a band than a big watch too. Haha. About to buy surge today. But it seems lazadas sellers increase their price today. Ishhhh.

Where u guys get your fitbit, any retails selling cheap still for local set.

Accuracy is a relative term.

It depends on your need actually, unless you are having heart problem or you are a hardcore endurance athlete, I would say the HR reading variance is still acceptable for most technologies.

Mio may be a good optical HR on its own but the ecosystem / app is quite weak compare to fitbit

My dad owns an Alpha. Needs daily charging. But that's what you have to do for continuous HR monitoring smile.gif

The ones with HR monitoring but can last for days, those are not real time tracking. Those are "on demand" HR monitoring, it will only check for your HR when you ask for it.

i wipe it using a wet wipe post workout. it tracks my heart beat ok. because i compare the pulse rate that it capture at the same time i check my pulse rate on my bp machine at home, and its only off by a beat or two . and ur not supposed to wear it too tight, some people get some sort of rashes initially. so make sure its not tight.

the optical HR monitor is not medical grade. its meant to be be close to accurate...

The only thing opt me to buy fitbit is price and 24 x 7 heart rate. But i just got my Charge HR for 2 days.

Tested with my gym session, a lil bit problem as i sweat alot, and i kinda feel it didnt detect my heart rate properly during the course.

Forerunner on the other hand, is focus on running, their heart sensor is far more accurate, in terms of the consistency.

You can search "DC Rainmaker", his review is in depth and should clarify all your question.

irregardless of brand, the best HR tracker is wearing the HR band around the chest: suunto, garmin, etc. choose one that you feel comfortable in. The fancy laser thing on the watch itself will not be accurate and consistent. Tho I do love the fitbit design. Have anyone else also tried this? It is super expensive, tracking HR by ear http://www.jabra.com/sports-headphones/jab...-pulse-wireless GREAT for runners.

I have the Polar for heart rate monitoring while doing sports, mainly running or cycling. I disliked the idea of wearing the strap all day... even while at work.

Is the Fitbit Charge HR suitable for me for ongoing continuous HR monitoring 24x7?

I have a Charge HR and just got Blaze as an upgrade or day watch supplement because I see the Charge 2 bring too little new things to the table while costing as much as the Blaze.

How much do you get Blaze for?

I'm getting one as Lazada is offering it cheap as hell. Rm7999 with 10% discount (For CIMB users), with free 32gb pendrive and 1 power bank.

I got slightly cheaper from Mudah, but doesn't have powerbank or pen drive. So I think it roughly comes out to the same price.

anyone tried using their Fitbit Charge 3 while in the shower? The app tells us to remove and dry the device when it gets wet...

Aeon_Clock I'm planning to buy one myself, how is the battery life? I am planning to buy one for my daily watch and some HIIT workout.
