Interesting articles in Anandtech comparing graphic performance of different tablet platforms.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6877/the-gre...qualizer-part-3

And this one show that the current hign end tablet platforms probably can match GPU from 2006 laugh.gif

Any ideas or speculations on how the upcoming Haswell's integrated graphics, presumable Intel HD8000, will compare to the current crop of dedicated graphics cards? Do you think it will be at least as good as say, a mid range Nvidia card from 2011/2012?

This one would be the Intel GT3e version (quad core 55W TDP)?

Yup, and obviously it will scale according to CPU rank/power consumptions so expect much lower performance on ULV proc.

If the Haswell's gt3 is really that good, would it be wise to postpone buying a gt 640m equipped laptop in favour of waiting for the Haswell laptops?

Haswell IGPU has different flavour. The most powerful IGPU in Haswell most probably will only come with the high end Haswell chip, and it is also likely that Haswell ULV chip will carry the less powerful IGPU.

Anyway, Nvidia GT740M will still most probably beat/match any flavour of Haswell IGPU, and laptop with GT740M is pretty cheap anyway. There are even some good deal with GT750M biggrin.gif

If you are looking for gaming laptop, don't bother to wait for Haswell, unless you want the better battery performance.

If you are looking for ultrabook without discrete GPU, and not in a hurry to get it, probably should wait.

The IGPU in Haswell is called Iris 5100 (GT3 28W, in 4th gen i7 ULT) and Iris Pro 5200 (GT3e, only 4th gen quad core);
HD 4200 / 4400 / 4600 / (GT2), HD 5000 (GT3 15W, can be found in ultrabook 4th gen ULT ).

Nice.

Now we're seeing more and more 7 series coming out.

Here's the GTX 760M specs :

Get a laptop with a bigger and thicker chassis for more room for the CPU and GPU heatsinks and also bigger vents to disperse all those generated heat.

Hope Haswell CPU architecture would come very soon, faster performance and lower TDP, hence you can expect cooler operations.

do u have any suggestion laptop with those criteria?

yeah hope Hasswell can be a green tech for us. less heat less energy big performance.
i really appreciate 2 way GPU in my lappy. only switch to NVIDIA gpu during gaming so i can make my lappy less heat.

I would personally recommend Illegear (Sager) or Alienware.

Both are very good at doing what they do best - a gaming laptop.
