I wanna extend the life of the Arc. Need to install custom ROM soon. Any recommendation for stable and full functionality ROM? Normally after install the ROM how much storage left. Stock default =285MB only.

Boot your phone. When you see LED light in blue color, repeatedly press back button to enter CWM.
Select the option to wipe data/factory reset.

hmm..long time not visiting arc thread..

hi...i got my arc s this week but i got a problem with earphone..when i plug phone detect its not compatible with phone then i try open fm radio and insert only 2 ring then it detect but the sound is terrible...too slow and no bass at all...how to solve this ? i need to use sony earphone only ?

well i'm back to GB custom rom which is smoother hat ICS base, and the feels and interface is in ICS... so no problem with me.. hahaha

No. you can use any brand of 3.5mm earphone/headphone.

Do you try with another earphone? same problem? (Borrow from friend if you have 1 set of earphone only).

Do you try on Music Player? same problem?

well sorry...i tried another 2 earphones and no luck then finally i tried a4tech headphone and it works...then i realized that a4tech hp only got 2 ring jack but other earphones was 3 ring...

btw that a4tech hp when i plug into pc i can only hear on right side with no bass...left side too slow...but when plugged into my arc the sound is superb with bass of course...

why is that ? 2 ring vs 3 ring jack...whats the diff ?

The 3 rings for microphone + stereo audio, while 2 rings for stereo audio only. I think your 3 rings earphone used CTIA/AHJ standard while Sony Ericsson 2011 Xperia series used OMTP standard. If you plug your 3 rings earphone to iPhone or HTC phone, it should work well.

I missed this thread, love arc curve design, very sexy. but this phone really hv quality control issues. such as mysterious crack at the proximity sensor, n chrome paint peel off. and the biggest issue for me with this phone is the internal memory demm to low both ram n internal storage. actually 512mb ram was ok back then back the 1gb internal memory was absurd. useable only 200-300mb. it was a shame.

Yes, agreed. Both RAM and internal storage are low.

If the phone rooted, internal storage not an issue if use Link2SD or similar apps. I used swap method to reduce lag when phone running low RAM.

If use stock firmware without root, not much apps can go in this phone.

On one fine day,it just stop working and no matter what i do like factory reset it still wont work!

I bought it in April 2011 and I'm still using it till this day and yes I've the sensor crack as well. Still works as fine as just bought despite my heavy usage but of course this is all old tech now. Better than some brands. Looking to upgrade to Z1 finally!

Not sure this phone will be missed but will serve as my GPS only.
