Sad day indeed for Elantra fans...and i'm seriously considering this car. I feel the 1.6 version will be a bit underpowered (considering the weight of the car), plus the Elantra is renowned for its 1.8L Nu engine, not the 1.6.
Plus missing all those goodies

why does the government fixes the price?

So Hyundai will propose the price... so the government will approve the price? Base on? What's the criteria?

Isit the engine size?
Isit the make?
Isit the cable with government thick or not?
Isit the bribe enuf or not?
Isit how bad will it fucuk proton sales?

I mean how does it work actually? Anyone have any idea?

my guess.

sonata is similar price with camry, and sonata sales very good.

so, they expect elantra sales very good, then they can price at similar price with altis/civic lo.

probably the number of cars they manage to get in is miniscule.... either cud be world wide demand too good, SD very unefficient or a combination of both.

Sonata is still 10K cheaper than Camry... no? I'm not sure...

I would suggest people whom is interested in the car to wait for official pricing. There is no point harping at rumored pricing, everyone has been harping on it for the last 20 pages and it is obviously not going anywhere.

Until it is announced, let's keep rumors as rumors.
