thats the problem.

i think it still points back to the mudah advertisement.

will u leak a good news(for your benefit) ? or will you leak a bad news?(for your benefit)
*
Good or bad, it's really not important anymore... coz diff ppl seems to have diff view what it shud be priced at... but right now i think most of us just need to know...

a lot of us are waiting, to make the decision to continue to pursue this car.... it's just unfair to make all of us wait... delay after delay.... Sept 11 to Q4 11 to Dec 11 to Feb 12.......

So here's another question, what about CKD continental cars like BMW/Merc/Volvo? Does the same mentality apply too?
*
definitely!

i mean at the end of the day, it boils down to branding and mind set loh.

Forte in Malaysia is called Naza Forte or KIA Forte ah?

On a separate note.... wah... this one bila datang? I like leh... but most likely price will kill it again.......

you think of resale value if you cannot afford the drop, the parts prices and service cost.

you think of value for $ when you think of its long spec sheet (if it has one), awards won & good reviews.
*
awards and review written else where won't necessarily fit our situation...

like i said before, it has won good review and award not bcoz its a great car, but a good car at a good price. cheaper than its competitors. feature packed (which some are useless for us like heated rear seats). design wise, its really subjective, so lets not talk bout it for now. hyundai also has high resale value in US, due to brand image.

none of the above is valid for us.

affordability n spending money wisely are 2 different things. if u fail to understand this, chances are ur a rich brat who's still spending daddy's money. Or u just fail at managing ur own finance.

if ur rich and don't care bout resale value, good for u. but it matters for a lot of ppl.

and... wud u buy it at 120K? u din really answer the question.

i forgot to mention the inokok badge... i dunno bout u... but it gives me the same feeling bout inspira n lancer. same car, but somehow different....

what's there to discuss here? will any discussion here change SD pricing policy?

will i pay 120k for THIS car? Wait for 20th Feb.  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
well the discussion was actually about if 120k is reasonable or not. did u miss all that?

whether or not it will change SD's policy, anyone with the right mind or basic common sense wud know the answer.

this is an online forum mind u. its where opinions are voiced out, or debates on different opinions yo. not where decisions are being made.

Do excuse my inability to catch your point via the long paragraphs. Perhaps you can educate us and show some examples thru simples maths as I would love to learn more.

Lets take a $100,000 car.
Case 1 : Pay $50K cash and loan $50k @ 2.8% for a tenure or 5 yrs.
Case 2 : Pay $0 cash, loan $100k @ 2.8% for a tenure of 5 yrs, AND put in $50k in FD @ 3.0% on a monthly renewable basis for 5 yrs.

So, I'm wondering, which case result in higher savings again?

Also do keep in mind cash in FD is much more versatile, you have an emergency.. out comes the cash, compared to selling your car to get $.
*
in this scenario looks like u haf 50k in hand, for a a car that cost 100K.

case 1 better. case 2 is obviously the lousier option, coz ur 2.8% car loan interest is on the basis of 100K. ur FD 3% interest is base on 50k. plus u'll nid to withdraw to service the loan, so ur 50k is getting lesser along the way.

i wud put lesser down payment, n do something else with the money. if make money, then do early settlement. admin charges not a lot....

I'm sure in both his case, the 50k are spare cash and could be locked in FD for the next 5 years. no one mentioned about using the 50k for the monthly installments. As long as the salary can support the monthly commitment, putting as little dp as possible is the best option.
*
well either way lesser downpay wud make more sense i guess. but not the mininum i suppose, nid to balance a bit.... as much as u can afford to pay installment for a 5 (max 7) years tenurr i guess

There is no simple maths in calculating the effective interest rate for higher purchase loan but a fixed formula which you can find easily on the internet. Most people will not be able to understand how the formula works but in layman terms is calculating the interest rate you would have paid if the car loan is on a reducing balance basis on fixed monthly repayment amount and fixed loan tenure.
*
i though hire purchases for cars always have % calculated based on the initial loan amount amortized, and not base on the reducing balance?

There will be a lock button to unlock the 'R' latch, so you can't accidentally shift into reverse.
