QUOTE(WheelieWonka @ Jan 17 2012, 11:17 AM) Most likely Elantra 1.6 high spec will be around 95k, but I can garenti you that 1.6 is underpowered for a 1200kg car. 1.8 Nu engine is the one to get - decent powerband to work with. The 1.8 version is the winner of the North American COTY, US takdah 1.6 version. lol even at 118K SD can go fucuk themselves loh..... heck even 115KI guess some ppl will get it just for the shape, but based on Hyundai's past crap resale value, I would really think twice before plonking down RM118k for Elantra... for Civic, no worries at all - can check Mudah.my for strong resale value. IMHO, Mazda 3 2.0 at RM120k is a good deal too. I'm just waiting for the official price - IF really above RM118k, SD can go fucuk themselves, along with their arrogant SAs |

QUOTE(kekura @ Jan 17 2012, 10:26 AM) based on sonata price positioning, it it 90% that elantra will have same price with honda civic low spec (RM115k - 119k). their goal is probably to penetrate the market to establish the brand, but because of limited supply, they wont be able to cater all the demand at this moment. hows Elantra doing in SG? any SOS? must compare to other makes in SG also la.... dun la compare Elantra sales in SG against Civic sales in Malaysia...Because of this, they will go for profit maximization strategy, in which within the supply-demand curve, they will pick the price point where the highest profit is gain while at the same time able to produce certain demand. kia forte was advertised as 'c-segment car at d-segment price', while elantra is 'c-segment car at c-segment price'. Therefore definitely at civic price instead of forte. fluidic mentioned SD were surprised how Forte could put that price below 100k, so definitely SD are not going to compete at Forte price. So now the probability is 98%. While the price seems on high side, it is good for SD at it brings maximum profit but we are on consumer side will be at loss because of all-we-know resale value, perception, spare parts etc. However remember that SD also offer low spec elantra at competitive price so they still have the chances to penetrate the market. 1.8 is only to cater premium consumers who were not too price sensitive. Price sensitive consumer go buy low spec. (Now i see the reason why SG doesnt sell 1.8.) |

QUOTE(kekura @ Jan 17 2012, 01:53 PM) Singapore civic spec: North America COTY... hahahahahhahahaha"The Civic 1.6 features a standard audio that features WMA and MP3 audio file capability, Speed-Sensitive Volume Control (SVC), an audio input jack and a USB audio interface. The Civic hybrid, Civic 1.8 and Civic 2.0 add Bluetooth HandsFreeLink, front tweeters, Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System and a 6.2-inch TFT color touch display. The navigation system features the popular Garmin system. A reverse camera system is standard. " "Free upgrade to 5 yr unlimited mileage warranty." what the heck. whats there left for Elantra to be proud of if at same price as civic? Hmm.. maybe i need to reconsider getting civic or its facelift. |

QUOTE(FluidicSculpture @ Jan 18 2012, 02:33 PM) Then why are you asking me to explain the very point of pricing when you straightaway say in the next sentence leave out about pricing being unconfirmed? You are asking questions which I do not have definite answer to and many(including me) did tried answering, but you simply wouldn't accept them. Bro, u're being abit defensive here... Someone will probably going to bring up the 40MPG issue again, despite being answered in picture. Just to let everybody know, even the price range of 'c-segment' is not fixed, we merely used the current popular c-segment as gauge, by definition c-segment is a car priced close to or above 100k, that's a broad range of price the Elantra can sit in. You're obviously selecting points in getting your arguments across here, given your history of dismissing 100% of my explanation so far I see no use explaining anything to you at all because you simply won't accept anything. In case you're wondering, you're one of those I referred to as quoted in previous post. Teacher can teach, the student may not listen, but when the kids talk back as if they knew better then they should know when to leave the classroom. The info we got from you (or from the trainer to you to us is) it's gonna priced at a C segment car price, that cud be from 100K - 130K plus minus, base on other Japs and Korean makes. Now we're not sure what news you've got lately or what impression the trainer give you bout the potential... but there're people posting bout info that they got was it's gonna be up till 115K or even 118K for the 1.8. To me, the elantra is a good car, but even with all the gadgets, it's not worth the range of 115K - 118K. Bcoz, they have not really fix their reputation yet, plus it's badged as Inokom. That's the exact root cause of the uproar in this thread right now. 115K - 118K is way over the board. I'm really interested to listen to your view on whats the upper limit of the range that it SHOULD be priced at, and why. |

QUOTE(squall_kay @ Jan 18 2012, 11:17 PM) because it is a premium korean's car. hyundai always premium and more expensive to built than KIA. elantra's suppose to be car for the mass.... if premium shud be like Genesis or K7 and above ba....but i wonder, in Korea where i believe those cars are directly sell by these companies (in malaysia, Naza and Inokom are only assembler/distributor), were priced similar....thus that means, in their homeland, Hyundai is selling at less profit than KIA (base on cheaper to built KIA's excuse by Hyundai's salesman) ? Or is it the "premium" things only applicable outside of Korea? if elantra and forte can be priced similar in Korea, and other country, why not in Malaysia... maybe because Malaysia is only a small market, thus Hyundai not really car about market penetration thus price it much higher... |
