Just to let forumers know, based on these few times experiences, I found that, if you buy BDs with value and shipping charges (in this case is priority shipping) greater than RM500 from Amazon US, if Amazon US choice UPS to send your parcel, you will often (or can I said always) get import tax.
The good news is the tax, according to latest BF invoice and previous invoice, the tax is payable by shipper which I think is Amazon US agent not me since I am consignee. So, should we said UPS suck? Anyone have similar experience? and I think 10% tax is a bit wired. If I remember correct, it should be 15% tax, right? This post has been edited by low98944: Nov 30 2012, 08:17 PM |

QUOTE(wiNd @ Nov 30 2012, 09:06 PM) Amazon US seldom use UPS send my parcel. I think not more than 5 times. But I already experienced 2 times kena tax for my parcels. Once is Bond 50 since include other BD too and another one is this time BF parcel. But both case, no require me to pay anything. Amazon UK also did sent my priority parcel once but not BD is some electronic product. Since total value less than RM500, their didn't tax that parcel. I saw their statement. In my previous company, we have centralized purchase of IT equipments from oversea to our Asia Pacific offices, and from my experience, having own warehouse, with resident custom is actually better than no warehouse. This is because most of the resident custom know the warehouse people, and sometime will close one eye. The good news is the tax, according to latest BF invoice and previous invoice, the tax is payable by shipper which I think is Amazon US agent not me since I am consignee. So, should we said UPS suck? Like some forumer mention, don't buy goods + delivery charges total above certain value, this will risk getting tax, sometime if lucky it will release without tax. When I buy from oversea, I try ask the buyer to undervalue + shipping <= 100 USD. For Amazon I can't, so I only buy goods with shipment ,=100 USD. If greater I usually ship to Singapore and arrange someone I know to send back. So far I have not heard that custom will charge the sender because is impossible to collect from them. Is the final destination address that got to pay. Your case, it could be UPS have settle for you, maybe custom close one eye. |

Shipper pay all charges may not include tax.
I have this when importing IT equipments in. Best of all, the power cord are taxable, and my KL company got to pay for it, not much is only RM 2.00, which cause the entire shipment of 10 of thousand ringgit value of notebooks delay. And when buying IT equipments, anything with communication, Fax, GSM, Router, etc on the items / description, ALL need special permit. Even RM 1 buck also you can't get it in. |

My Golden Rule for all this is simple... if you want to avoid custom tax at all cost:-

QUOTE(fadthil @ Nov 30 2012, 03:23 PM) cOOl bond set!! BF price is really worth if u like all or almost all of bond flicks there... If you like just 7 or 8 of the Bond series, it is already better value to get the box set when it is at a discount as in the recent BF. The price of buying the movies individually plus shipping cost per disc will likely add up to more than the price of the box set (plus there's an extra bonus disc). The only draw back (if it can be considered one) is that you'd not have a keep case (and the artwork) for each of the discs/movie. The box set houses all the discs in 2 widescreen "books" with slits within the pages to slide the discs in and out. |
