Hi, I read in /k/ that Samsung Galaxy isn't getting a ICS update, and most similiar spec model will probably not a ICS update too. Is that true? And can we still use a ROM based on ICS then?

Well some said its no ICS at the time being. So now that this is confirmed, I'm thinking of getting Galaxy Nexus S.

I'm will be using the phone for internet banking, and I might not wanna risk it using a ROM. But if anyone else got experience of using an Android Phone for personal banking, please share. smile.gif

dude..using a custom ROM won't make you risk your online banking la..come on..as long as you are using a popular ROM it is fine not some shady one...what you are saying is more akin to like using a different operating system other than windows will risk spoiling your PC hardware...that's..rubbish.

do you even know how custom ROMs are built anyway? The ROMs are built from the AOSP - Android Open Source Project and its not like the browser is written by some Ali/Abu developer, etc...so rest assured, it is safe.

Thanks for correct my way of thinking. So, is Galaxy W getting attention in the ROM community? Or is it somewhat of unpopular device (I know its popular here, but we're not the one making the ROMs).

Yes there is already work in progress on an ics based custom. Don't worry. A popular handset will sure have custom rom.

I don't know how popular it is outside of Malaysia/Asia.

We spend RM800 - RM900 to buy this phone. With 800 USD, you can get an Iphone4s in US. Low/mid end product is definitely not as popular there as here.

Anyway thanks, I think thats the last question. Will wait for some announcement from banks before actually buying the phone

Actually, a popular custom ROM may be safer than the stock ROM.
