Well, it depends. The least I'd go for is two overhead condensers, a kick drum mic and a snare mic. If you CAN, mic every single thing up.

Regarding EQing and all, well it depends on the individual drums, but to make the DRUM sound big, always put the kick and drum mic up a bit more than what you think sounds good. tongue.gif HAHAHAHA!
What happened to it? Pictures?

thanks for the advice though, but we are in a very limitted budget, so i reserved only 3 normal mics for drums (is normal mic okay?), or i should put 4? what am i planning is, 1 mic on hi hat, 1 mic put on the middle for crash and rack toms, 1 for bass drum and snare and 1 for ride, is arrangement okay? icon_question.gif

Also, am planning to make drum covers once i got my own drum set. As question above, is normal mic okay? No money for mic specilalised for drums sweat.gif sweat.gif

What do you mean by normal mics? Dynamic, shouldn't be a problem lah, if its a small event or something.

Hmm... Tell you what. Your bass drum and snare should have separate mics smile.gif If possible. Ride, let it bleed into your overhead.

Yeah, dynamic mics smile.gif
"If possible. Ride, let it bleed into your overhead." < I don't really get what you mean? Do you meant blend it together with the Rack toms and crash?

I'd change my snare, as I carry my snare around a lot and I use it everywhere. smile.gif Right now I'm in between a Remo Ambassador and an Evans Power Centre Reverse Dot, deciding now. tongue.gif I like the Ambassador more than the PCRD, but I'll try out the Genera or G1 and see how it goes. I seem to like Evans heads more.

Next, I'd change my bass drum head, if I were you. The bass and snare are the two things you hit most in your drum arsenal. And again, right now I'm in between a Remo Powerstroke III and an Evans EMAD coated. I seem to be leaning towards using the EMAD more in the future though. I like the dry, focused sound of it.

Toms, I'd go last, for the reasons given above, but remember, they are no less important. Just that, to me at least they have a tendency to still sound at least okay compared to a snare or bass drum with crappy heads. On my end, I'm using Evans Hydraulics now. smile.gif

I use vdrums b4 TD4. Never use the percussion pad before so dunno wat feel you mean. I think all electronic drums feel the same unless buy damn high end like TD20 or something.

If only for practice purpose just buy the cheapest you can find that doesnt break down in 1 hit.
